IMac Intel :: Cannot Transfer Contacts Files From Outlook To The System?

I have attempted several times to load my e-mail contacts from Outlook to the Address Book by importing either CSV, or Tab Delimited files. However, the Address Book program promptly crashes and sends a message to Apple. Both file formats appear to be recognized and I can step through the data until I press OK - then the program crashes and shows extensive code indicating the problem.

I'd like to transfer contacts from my Outlook Express on my PC to a hard drive to my Address book and Mail on my MacBook. I tried exporting the Comma Seperated Values file, but the mac does not recognize it. One tutorial said to transfer vCards, but I don't know how to do that. IMac Intel :: System Not Restarting After Data Transfer
We purchased a new 27" I5 Quad Core iMac. We had a dead iMac that we needed to get data off of, so we used TimeMachine and took it off onto an external drive. Old iMac won't start again. (which isn't the problem I'm talking about). Then, we connected the drive with the data to the NEW Quad Core iMac and when the screen asks if you want to transfer information (or whatever the message is) we said yes. Everything transfers OK. Go to restart iMac. Won't restart. Reload OS from discs. Reloads OK. Won't restart.

By "won't restart", I mean we get a message on a gray screen that continually asks you to restart, and we do, then back to the gray screen asking to restart. So, we bring it back to the Apple Store we purchased it from, brought a new one home, went through the exact same process and had the exact same problem! The last machine they checked and they said it had a bad logic board. Are we doing something wrong? Is there any way to get out of this restart loop? It won't boot from the disc, either.

IMac Intel :: How To Transfer PC Files To New Machine
I just purchased a new iMac yesterday. I have my PC files backed up on an external HD. My external HD won't work/not recognized when I test it by plugging it into my Mac Book Pro. However because I have my computers set up on a network I saved my files on DVD and the music files which are too large I copied onto my PC desktop to access via the network. Isn't there an easier way to transfer files? This is very time consuming since all of my back up files on my external HD are in Zip format. I also want to make sure all of my iphone files are on there but am not sure what to look for. Yes, I purchased one on one but am not about to carry a 27" desktop down to the store (I bought it online).

IMac Intel :: Best Way To Transfer Files / Setup Network?
I just got a new iMac. I have a MBP from which I would like to transfer all contents on to the iMac. I do have the MBP backing onto a Time Machine and I'm wondering if that could be used to easily transfer the latest backup version to the new computer? How would I do that and would this transfer all of the MBP's content or would I still have to install my programs like iWork from the install disks?

Also, I will be keeping the MBP as a secondary computer, would there be a way to easily connect the two computers so they could synch files wirelessly? I also have one more laptop running Windows7 in the house that I would love to get on the wireless network. Right now we only have it connected to the Time Machine for internet, but being able to easily share files would be helpful.

IMac Intel :: Large Files Transfer (Rate Drops) Between External HD
I am working with two Western Digital My Book hard drives daisy chained to my iMac via Firewire 800. I am performing several large file transfers between them (around 200 GB each). Initially the transfer rate seems normal and the progress bar gives it about an hour. But as the transfer continues the rate drops to a painfully slow job that I believe is under 10MB / sec, and after hours of work it now tells me there's about 5 hours left. I can't this in smaller increments because the folders contain long TIFF image sequences, so the number of actual files in each folder is in the thousands.

I have recently bought a Mac and I'm in the process of migrating off my PC. Currently I sync my iPhone with Outlook and so I have my contacts and calendar in Outlook format. Is there a way to sync my iPhone with the Mac so that my contacts will all migrate over, and importantly keep the Outlook categories (Mac groups). I have tried exporting in a comma delimited file from Outlook, but it simply dumps all the 4000+ address records into a single group, ie the Outlook categories are lost.

IMac Intel :: Huge System Log And ASL Files
Following on from an earlier posting regarding disappearing disk space, a couple of responses suggested running a disk utility such as OmniDiskSweeper. I ran this and it highlighted that the private folder, specifically 'private/var/log' is taking up almost 49 GB! There are 2 system log files: system.log.0 is almost 20 GB and system.log is close to 19 GB and a file, asl is 10 GB. What are these, can they be deleted, and what may have caused them to be so large in the first place?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Outlook 2011 - Syncing Contacts With Address Book?
my problem is that I have decided to use a workaround to get my Address Book contents into Outlook 2011. I am not concerned with further syncing at this point. I just want to get my addresses into Outlook and hope a better fix is offered at some point. About the only way I could figure out how to do this was to export my Address Book as vCard. I then imported the vCard file into Gmail and then exported that as a CSV file. It contained 550 addresses. I opened it in Excel and it contained 550 rows. Great so far. I then Imported into Outlook 2011 and chose import a text file. When the mapping window opened, it showed over 890 files instead of 550 and the fields were not mapped correctly.
