IMac Intel :: Slow Internet - Images Not Loading With Full Signal

I live in an upstairs room of a house and ever since I took my iMac home, the internet has been extremely slow. Full signal on my Airport and other computers in the house are much faster (and older). I've done some research and it could be some kind of interference like wood and other materials, but I didn't necessarily plan on this being an "outside" computer.

IMac Intel :: WiFi Shows Full Signal Bars But No Internet
Whenever I leave my iMac idle for a few minutes, I am suddenly unable to browse and the progress bar in Safari just gets stuck at the beginning, regardless of which webpage I attempt to access. I have to switch of the built-in airport WiFi and back on again to restore connectivity. I have attempted changing channels on my Aztech Router, delete preferences on my iMac, but I am just baffled. I even did a hardware test using the supplied DVD. How can I be sure that the iMac WiFi card hardware is ok or not. I would like to rule out a hardware issue to be able to focus on a software resolution. Then again, if the hardware is faulty, then I got to replace it, I guess.

IMac Intel :: Full Signal - Can't Connect To Internet Occasionally?
I have read through the topics, and not sure if my problem is the same as the iMac 27 inch problem, though the solution does not seem to concern my problem Fully connected to the internet via router, never previously had problems, but in the last two months, I have realised that even at full signal strength, I cannot connect to the internet or sometimes, exceptionally slow internet speed. According to the Network Diagnostics, Airport is working fine, joined the router network etc, yet just next to the Internet, it is a red dot, i.e. not connected. ther computers (Windows based) in the house are working fine. When my internet is running slow/disconnected, nobody has downloads running, other computers are running at regular speed/connected, just mine with the problem. At first, when it just started to run slow, I just thought our router network was being used by some outsider/downloads were running, after resetting the router, finding out no downloads are running, I am not sure what the problem is. suspect my Airport is broken? Not sure how, but. Not even sure what is wrong now, sometimes it would connect for five seconds and then disconnect for a few minutes before connecting again and repeatedly do so for hours. Yet it can run smoothly without problems for an entire day. So, anyone else had this same problem before? Any solutions?

IMac Intel :: Wireless Internet - Barely Connect To The Signal So The Interent Is Very Very Slow
I just moved into a garage apartment. The main house has a wireless router, its a linksys wrt150N. I can barely connect to the signal, so the interent is very very slow, if it loads at all. I feel like ive exhausted all of my options. I tried setting up an airport express, which I could get the signal and connect to the AE but never got it to actually connect to the internet. Now I am trying a linksys wre54g extender and it seems to be the same thing. Ive spent entire days working on this. I dont know what to do. Ive tried messing with ip's and everything. is this situation hopeless? ive followed numerous step by step instructions and i just cant find anything that works.

IMac Intel :: Internet Pages Loading Slow On All Browsers
I have been experiencing issues with internet loading on my iMac - it is late 2007 IMac Intel based. I keep all the software upgraded upto date. I thought it might be with my ISP but then my other computers work fine, laptops etc. I took it to the apple store and they tried few things like disk utility etc. They also tried to put the DNS for ethernet and for airport, it didn't help either at the apple store. They could see the problem at the apple store. Apple advised to reinstall the OS by erase and install which I did last night.

I had the similar slow issue even after the reinstall and before I updated all the software. Then I did updated all the software with Mac software upgrade. Still the issue persist. It doesn't matter which browser I use, be it Safari, Chrome or Firefox. The safari stops loading few internet pages, it intermittent, I have noted the problem consistently with cnn. I tried putting the DNS numbers for Airport and Ethernet, still the same issues, no difference.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Work With Slow Internet / Showing Full Wifi Signal Strength
Does anyone know how accurate the 2010 macbook pro wifi signal strength monitor is? There are times I have full bars but my internet is really slow, or stops working all together for a few minutes. I THINK, because I'm on a different floor than the router, which would explain reduced signal. BUT my computer says I have full bars.

MacBook Aluminum :: Full Wireless Signal Yet Websites Not Loading?
I have full signal on my wireless network, but if I try to open a webpage it just says "You are not connected to the Internet. Safari can't open the page because your computer isn't connected to the Internet. Network Diagnostics can help you solve network connection problems. My sister and my dad use my same wireless network on their PC's and it works just fine for them, it's not too strong but it works fine. Is there anything obvious I should be looking at that might make this work? I can't figure anything out. It's not like it won't connect to the Airport Express. It connects full, but then just doesn't connect to the internet.

MacBook Pro :: Wi-Fi Really Slow With Full Signal?
I just encountered this issue about 2 days ago on my 2009 2.66 GHz MacBook Pro 15. When I am connected to a wireless network my internet goes REALLY slow (30 Mbps wired vs 2 Mbps wi-fi), I cant even watch a youtube video anymore without waiting 5 minutes. My wi-fi signal is full and I am maybe about 15 ft away from my router. I have tried reinstalling OSX and restoring my router but nothing has helped. I also have a Macbook Air running on the same network and connected to the same Wi-Fi and my speed is normal (around 30 Mbps) so I know its not an issue with my router. All my computers are running the latest snow leopard and needless to say, I have zero programs or anything else running on the macbook pro because its on a fresh install of OSX. And just to be clear all these issues occur only when I am in Wi-Fi on the 15 inch, wired works normal on the 15 inch.

IMac Intel :: How To Get Quality Wireless Internet Signal
I have a cable modem. I get my internet connection by connecting an ethernet cable from the modem to my computer. However, I want to move my computer into another room without moving the modem (too many wires involved). What do I need to do in order to get a signal from my modem wirelessly? Will I lose any quality in the signal if it is wireless versus the direct connection I have now via an ethernet cable?

OS X :: Internet Not Connecting With Full Signal Bars
I have the white macbook and I got it a little less than a year ago. For the past week, sometimes when I go on the internet (firefox or safari) it just won't load. Like the blue bar that shows you how much has loaded isn't even visible and it will just say "connecting". But when I look at my airport icon that shows me how many bars of internet I have all the bars are full so I have internet connection. It is not just one type of internet browser because it does it on both safari and firefox. And it is getting really annoying because I will be browsing the internet and it just won't load or connect at all. Even if I wait.

IMac Intel :: Loading Images In Google / Mapping Sites
I have recently bought an iMac, and find that when I search using Google Images, the thumbnails do not load, and the "loading" icon stays pretty much indefinitely. I also have problems when using mapping in Multimap/Bing/Google Earth, in that the images again do not load properly much of the time. This is extremely frustrating as these are functions that I use all the time. I downloaded Google Chrome to see if the problem was in Safari, and got the same result, so the problem appears to be in the operating system.

OS X :: Webpage Loading Very Slow / Slow Internet Or CPU Speed?
Is there a way to tell which one is slow, if anything is going slow? I have an extremely old PC which is normally ok for most things, but gets bogged down if I am doing too many things.I was so annoyed with our national real estate site after they changed the format that I wrote a letter once a long time ago.. and I was ready to let them have it again, listing all the reasons why it is so bad and so much worse than the original.

Today for the first time, I accessed the site (mls.ca) using my new iMac. It was like lightening speed, comparatively speaking.Wow, suddenly I knew why the mls people hadn't changed their new format. But then I started going to other sites.. like airmiles.ca for example, and it was slow as heck... and stalling.. etc.
How would I be able to tell whether it is an internet slowness or the computer being slow?

My computer detects the established network and connects with full signal strength. However, when I open my internet I receive an error stating "Server Not Found" I have matched up my settings to the other Mac connected to the network and still no luck. It says that there is a full wireless connection but will not load the webpage.

Once the webpage has finally loaded after about a minute, subsequent browsing is as fast as can be expected upon my broadband connection, loading pages in <1s.

However the problem reappears whenever I open a new window, or anything else that might use the internet such as the app store, itunes or apple software update.

IMac Intel :: Programs Loading Slow - Need To Defrag HD?
I've got a 20" Intel iMac. I recently had the hard drive replaced with a 500gb. It's got about 175gb free. I'm noticing that everything is pretty slow on it lately. I can still use Final Cut Pro and all that, but loading programs sometimes takes a long time and I have to reboot. I've noticed that if any other users have logged in, it seems to slow things down even more. Even after they've logged out, once more than 1 user has logged in, things slow down like crazy. I've got a Time Machine drive. Should I consider restoring from a recent backup, or is there a need/way to defrag the hard drive? I do sometimes capture media files to the internal drive and then move them to my external HDD. Could this be a factor?

IMac Intel :: Internet Drops Out Even Though AirPort Is At Full Strength
I have been having an issue for a while where my internet has been intermittently starting and stopping working when using airport for quite a while now. Up until recently I have been able to use ethernet and had no problems at all. But now that I am having to connect via AirPort the internet connection keeps cutting out. Whenever I change something in the network (change IP address, turn AirPort off and back on again or restart the router), the internet connection will work fine for about 10-20 seconds before the bandwidth drops to 0kb/s. Often just opening up system preferences is enough to make it work for 20 seconds or so, or pressing 'Renew DHCP Lease,' even if it doesn't change the IP address. I have several other computers in the same network, two running tiger and one leopard that don't have this problem. The router is a Netgear 802.11g router.

My internet speed is fine as I have another laptop (Toshiba running on windows vista) and video loading is really quick and don't have to wait for a video to completely load as it is already fast. So is the problem the Macbook or internet connection?

MacBook Aluminum :: Slow Internet Loading - Any Way To Make It Faster?
I bought a new Macbook 3 weeks ago at the Apple store. I am a long-time pc user who took the Apple plunge mostly because I am sick of getting viruses all the time. Unfortunately, I am pretty disappointed with the speed of the Internet and really slow loading of websites--especially business websites (CNN, WAMU, Citibank, WSJ, etc.) It's not my wireless internet connection because I did a side-by-side test. I sat on my couch with my 4 year old Dell pc and the new Macbook and went to the same websites at exactly the same time. My old Dell was always faster loading each website and in some business-related or video-related sites, about 35-55 seconds faster. Is there anyway to make the apple load websites faster or is slow internet just the price I have to pay to be virus-free?

IMac Intel :: Very Slow Wireless Internet With All Updates
I'm not sure when this problem started but I'm pretty sure my wireless internet speed was perfect when I got the mac (December 2009) but I started noticing recently that Youtube was slow, as were my usual news sites which were normally pretty fast - suddenly I was waiting like when I had dial up. I thought it might be router but the other housemate says his internet is fine. So I tested my EEE-PC and then my iMac with speedtest.net and imagine my shock:

$300 EEE-PC:
Download: 8.84Mb/s
Upload: 0.26Mbs/s
Ping: 51

$2,300 iMac:
Download: 2.66Mb/s
Upload: 0.5Mbs/s
Ping: 50

Exactly the same browser (Firefox 3.6), router, time etc. except one is running XP and one OSX 10.6.2. (I also tried Safari - no dice same result). Now I've been searching on the net for a solution and I can tell you that none of the usual suggestions have worked, I've tried:

1. Starting in Safemode - no good because it does not load Airport.
2. Repairing Disk Permissions (this made a marginal but consistent improvement).
3. Clearing the cache of both browsers - no difference
4. Inserting OpenDNS DNS settings under Network setting - no difference
5. Turning off the firewall - no difference (possibly slower)

I have not tried finding out and filling in my service provider (Sky)'s fixed IP and DNS etc. as I fail to see why I should be fiddling with those settings when the netbook works perfectly fine with everything set to automatic. So now I am trying to figure out why my otherwise beautiful mac is running internet speeds 3x slower than a cheap high street netbook and whether the problem is simple setting change or a hardware issue.

IMac Intel :: Desperately Slow Internet - No Connection Apparently?
I am a Sky broadband customer and have just spent 60 mins with them trying to bottom out why my download speed maxes out at 128k. They checked the router which was displaying a connection speed of over 5mps. I was guided to Network utility, then Netstats and finally 'display the state of all current socket connections'. She was expecting a couple of entries, but couldn't understand why I was saying there were about 100 lines worth of connections (I had to scroll down about 3 pages worth). The end result was than in her opinion, these must be some form of virus or malicious software sucking up my bandwidth. If this is the case, how do I get rid of it? Is this a virus?

IMac Intel :: Internet Connection Slow On Wireless Network
I have an iMac 9.1 Intel as well as an iBook G4, both have all the latest updates. However, I did not upgrade to Snow Leopard yet. My husband has an HP laptop. We are running AT&T Fast Access DSL wirelessly through a Belkin N Wireless Router for the laptops. I have my iMac connected directly to the modem via Ethernet. I can connect my iMac wirelessly using Airport. My husband's HP runs very fast on the wireless network.

But my iMac & laptop take a while to load pages & usually don't load all the content on the pages. I'm not an expert on setting up networks, but I know a little bit about it. I used the Setup Assistant to install the network. Is there anything that I can do to speed up the connection? I wasn't sure if this is a problem with the ISP or with the computers. Because it is happening on both of my Mac products, I figured I'd start here.

IMac Intel :: Slow Internet Connection With AirPort Extreme
My internet connection is incredibly slow. I'm connected through Comcast/wireless network using Airport Extreme and use Safari (I tried Firefox and it didn't load quickly either). Immediately following a hard reset of my modem and Airport Extreme, the connection is fast. But after 10 minutes or so it slows down... WAY down. Pages take forever to load and often timeout partway through. I've tried connecting it directly via ethernet cable (first a CAT6, then a CAT6A) and have the same problem. Originally I used a Time Capsule as a router, but switched to the Airport Extreme to see if that would help. It hasn't, though I'm sticking with the AE. Curiously, when I download a file - video, audio, text - it still downloads quickly. I scheduled a call with AppleCare for tomorrow (1/14), but would love to take care of it myself.
