IMac Intel :: Replacing Motherboard Pram Battery On 17"

I am trying to replace the motherboard battery on my 17" intel imac (white enclosure). The battery is a CR2032 Wafer-type battery. After popping the case apart, I notice the battery is surrounded by a black ring like enclosure with what look like tabs on one end. I tried to pry the tabs apart to get the battery out with no luck. Then the entire battery and enclosure popped off the motherboard. Now I have the battery and enclosure in my hands and still can not figure out how to get the battery out of the enclosure. It is completely encased and looks like it would be sold by Apple or an OEM and one complete unit. Worse is that it is now off the motherboard and I need to locate some dielectric paste to reattach it.

IMac Intel :: Boot Up 24" - Motherboard Battery- Chime Gray Screen And Spinning Wheel?
I restarted my computer after having internet connection problems. I get the chime, grey screen and the spinning wheel. It just spins and then screen goes black. I tried starting off DVD. It does not recognize it. Does the same thing as above. I reset Pram, both chimes, grey screen, spinning wheel and then black screen. I was able to get the hardware test to problems with the drive it says. Have not modified the computer since I bought it in Jan of 2008 except for regular software updates. Have never added RAM. Is this a motherboard battery problem? If so, is this something I can attempt to replace? Where to get this battery?

IMac Intel :: Won't Allow Pram Reset
First of all, I've been a Mac owner for 20 years and I know the mechanics of zapping the pram. option, command p,r I have an Intel iMac 1.83 ghz w/ 2 gig ram running 10.6.2 that will not hook to my Filemaker server. I've repaired the permissions, ran Onyx, done everything that I know to do except for pram reset. I've tried a dozen times and spoken with AppleCare and STILL can't get this thing to zap the pram. I'm aware that this probably not the fix that I'm looking for, but I'm trying to be thorough. About either the filemaker host or forcing this thing to reset the pram.

IMac Intel :: PRAM Reset - Immediate Power Up - Normal?
I replaced my PRAM battery and after doing so when I pluged in the power cord the iMac immediately powered up. No need to press the power button. This was a 1 time thing, after shut-down it all seems normal. I re did the battery removal/replacement and again the system immediately starts when power cord plugged in. Seems abnormal to me but perhaps it isn't?

IMac Intel :: Can't Reset PRAM - No Beep
I have a 24" iMac 2.8 Ghz. The superdrive has been acting up recently and I was advised to reset the PRAM. Upon attemting to do this I found that the iMac constantly reboots as I hold down the appropriate key combination. There is no beeping - no nothing. Then I attempted to reset the NVRAM and found it just boots straight into OSX. I do not use a blutooth keyboard or mouse - so that is not the problem. The keyboard is the same that came with my iMac. I'm worried that I now face a more serious problem than just the superdrive acting up.

IMac Intel :: Beach Ball Of Death Tried Everything / Motherboard Or HD?
A couple weeks ago I started getting the "beach ball" on nearly every mouse click or action. I tried everything, the problem only got worse. Being worried about the data I decided I needed to try to get it backed up first. I tried connecting with firewire and pulling the data that way and it would just stop after 4-5 GB every time. I was thinking it had to be the hard drive. Next I actually pulled the hard drive and put in into an external enclosure. Like this i was able to get all the data off just fine with no problems. This made me think maybe the hard drive is ok. I put the hard drive back into my Imac and do a full format and reinstall of the OS surprisingly the OS loaded fine etc so I thought I was going to be OK and then it started up again within a few minutes.I am still hoping its the Hard drive (of course) but it seams that would be odd considering how well it worked while out of the Imac and the OS loads fine etc.

IMac Intel :: Beep Coming From Motherboard Even With No Power Connected?
Strange thing started on my 2008 24"iMac yesterday (just over a year old). There is a two tone beep (a high tone and a low tone) coming from inside the machine every 10 minutes. I ran Apple hardware Test, Tech Tools Pro, reset PRAM, checked RAM was properly seated, repaired disc permissions, booted from OSX disc etc but still beeps every 10 mins.

Strange thing is it continues to beep every 10 mins even when machine is shut down and the power card is disconnected, (it beeped all night like this....)

Apple telephone support have no idea, so will have to take it in for repair.

Just wondered if anyone has ever had anything similar or any ideas what this might be. I wondered if it could be the on-board battery crying out to be changed (strange as its a year old and I thought it was rechargable).

IMac Intel :: Reset Pram & Nvram Now System Slow
I decided to reset my pram because the disk startup preference pane wont recognise my windows drive but i could boot into windows from my firmware. I read on the internet that resetting the pram might fix it. After i reset my pram my computer took a long time to boot. then it came up with a folder with a " ? " in it. so i booted from my os 10.6 install disk and ran the disk utility thinking my harddrive might be faulty. it didn't find any errors. When it booted it also made the bong sound but at max volume. I left it for a while and it eventually booted into osx but every time i typed in a letter it would lockup with a beach ball for 5 mins. ounce i logged in and my computer was running for a while it started to run close the normal speed. I was wondering if there was a way to restore/reinstall the firmware? could someone please explain to me in layman's terms what resetting the pram & nvram actually does? i hope im not missing any details. Im looking forward to getting finding a solution.

IMac Intel :: Prohibitory Sign At Boot - Can't Reset PRAM Or Eject CD
I have one of the first all white Intel iMacs and just a few minutes ago I tried to restart my computer. It looked like it was booting fine but about 45 seconds in, the apple turned to the prohibitory sign, with the spinning clock spine underneath still going. I tried all the usual, but I cannot get my computer to do anything -- I have a dvd in the drive I cannot even eject it using the mouse. I cannot boot into safe-mode, cannot hold option to choose another drive, cannot force boot into the OS by holding down x, cannot even boot it into target disk mode. Cannot command-s for love or money. Cannot zap the PRAM. It's almost as though it ignores every input from the keyboard and mouse (which do have power because I can see the optical mouse lit when it is plugged into the keyboard and I've even tried different USB ports just to be sure.) The only thing it seems to care about is the power button. I'm kinda broke at the moment and cannot afford to take it in for repair

MacBook :: Battery Connector To Motherboard?
Im fixing up a macbook, and there was problems with the battery connector. So I pulled it out. But on the LB there were only 9 holes (6 on one side, 3 on the other) and no hole where the 7th ones should be. And on the connector in those spots it was the same thing, but what is even weirder, is that it doesnt even look like the pins were broken off, just that there was nothing there, and on the top it doesnt have any solder on those points. Any ideas what to do and how to do it??? And if you want i can post pictures.

MacBook Pro :: Which PRAM Battery Suitable For G4 PB (A1106)
I think my PRAM battery is dead (date resets to January 1st 1970 when started up with main battery removed) but I can't find a replacement PRAM anywhere (I'm in the UK). According to iFixit the part number is 820-1686-A - is this the only PRAM module that will work in my machine? (I've seen lots of other similar looking parts on eBay, but with different part numbers). Also, is it not possible to actually just replace the battery, not the whole circuitboard? It looks like a regular watch battery I could pick up for $5 from the pic.

MacBook Pro :: Fried Motherboard - Battery Still Charging?
It was almost 12 days ago when I accidentally spilled hot water all over my keyboard and the computer automatically shut down. I have already tried to save it by keeping it in a box of rice and silica packs, but after a week it still would not turn on. My motherboard probably fried from the water, as my brother reported that he saw the marks when he opened the macbook that I bought last year. Out of curiosity, I plugged in my power cord and strange enough, the green light still turned on. It does seem a bit faint though, but I just wanted to know if there's still hope of it coming back to life if I continue to wait it out? My warranty is done, but I know Apple wouldn't fix a water spill under warranty anyways.

I have a imac 17in 1st gen and when I boot up my mac it loads up (noise and all) and shows the apple sign and continues to load with the circle dashes. I called a mac specialist and told me it could be the hard drive. So last night i replaced the hard drive and bought the new leopard operating system. I succesfully replaced the hard drive and now im stuck! I put the operating system disk in the drive and it tries to load it then ejects it. On the screen it shows a folder with a question mark in it? Im keep my fingers crossed on tryin to save this thing!

MacBook Pro :: Dead PRAM Battery Causing Failed Startup?
one of my Al Powerbooks decided to kernel panic twice in the past two days and both times fail to start up afterwards. The symptoms would be that when I pushed the power button, I wouldn't hear the Apple startup sound and it would just sit there.

Well, after a few tries and some sadness, I decided to remove the PRAM battery card and voila, computer boots up perfectly! This has actually happened twice (removed PRAM card, booted up, then put PRAM card back in, then eventually exact same situation occurred again), does anyone know if a PRAM battery card can possibly wreak suck havok on a G4 running Leopard.

MacBook Pro :: PRAM Battery Dying On 38th Week 2009?
Now normally I wouldn't expect it in an under 4 year old machine, but the normal battery is working as expected.  However, when I'm not plugged into power, my WiFi doesn't always reconnect, and when it does, the internet doesn't seem to connect either 90% of the time.  When I'm plugged into power, no problem.  3 other machines on the same wireless network have no issues with it, though my cable company says they are detecting intermittent signal loss, which I can't reproduce on any other machine.  The other reason I believe it is the PRAM battery and not the main battery, is during one reboot, the date reset itself to year 2000.  Once I managed to reconnect the internet, I was able to set the date & time to the time server.

IMac Intel :: 24'' White Dead - Motherboard Stopped Working?
I have a 24'' white intel iMac from 2006, and it stopped working. It happened after I replaced the HDD fan (underneath the logic board).I have previously replaced the harddisk with more luck. After I assembled the computer, I powered it up - the indicator light went on and the fans started, but nothing more. I turned it off and tried again - but now nothing happened. I tried resetting the SMC and nothing.I tried holding down the power-button while inserting the powercable, and that makes the fans run at full speed, but no light. Now the fans come on slightly, and the indicator light seems to light at half power (slightly pulsating), but other than that, it is dead. (no light in mouse either)I also tried removing the RAM and reinstalling it.I fear that the board might have some how been damaged during the installation.

IMac Intel :: Keyboard & Mouse Won't Connect After Replacing Low Batteries?
Late 2009 iMac i7 27" + OS X 10.6.5. My wireless bluetooth and mouse were paired and working fine. I get a low battery warning on either the mouse or keyboard and replace with fully charged set of batteries. After this I find the device (keyboard or mouse, whichever ran out) will not connect. No amount of turning the device on/off, trying to connect from Finder etc will connect it. I just get the flashing green LED on the device. Trying to browse the BT device from Finder is sluggish (beach-ball). Console messages show SystemUIServer HID device connect failures. The only way I can connect it is to restart the iMac, then it works. It shouldn't really be this way - do others get this, is there a fix for it?

MacBook :: Battery Is Not Working And Unable To Charge Even After Replacing It
The issue began as the X in the battery icon - i tried using a friends healthy battery in my machine but it still displayed the X. So I figured it was an issue on the computer rather than the battery. However, after a week of running it purely off the mains, the battery icon now just states 'not charging', and 'replace now'. The battery has done 977 cycles so I imagine replacing it now is fairly sound advice (although I remember it saying that about a year ago and after resetting the battery it went away - can it be trusted?) - but given the earlier X issue,
