IMac Intel :: Part Of Left Side Of Screen Is Black

I bought this mac through ebay some time ago now. After a few months of use, i noticed the left side of the screen flickering/twitching. It gradually got worse till the majority the left side of the screen was completely distorted. Now, there's a dead space there, and when i take a print screen, the image comes out fine.

The line is not majorly visible, but it is just annoying considering i payed 1000 for this iMac.

IMac :: 21.5" Vertical Black Line/Mark Down Left Hand Side Of Screen?
I have only recently started noticing this, it is mostly visible on the white screen at boot up but just faintly noticed it now against my background.

It is a fading black line going down the left hand side of the screen, it starts at the top kind of fades in the middle then comes out again.

I honestly have no idea what this is, i will try catch a picture on my phone soon and post it up.

UPDATE: Sometimes the line is clear, sometimes it is faint and even sometimes it isn't even there!

Mac Intel :: IMac 24" Aluminium Screen Has A 1px Line On The Left Side Of The Screen?
I'm not sure what this is, or what caused it, but I was just going about my normal computing when I went to change my desktop background to another color (black), and when I did I noticed a long vertical line going down the furthermost left edge of my screen. It seems to retain the image of my previous wallpaper (before the new one), seeing as whenever I change it to something bright, it doesn't show (not a dark line, anyway, from dark to bright), but when I change it to something dark, the same color from the previous wallpapers stays, but not the other way around. Is there a way to fix this, or is it irreversable? The computer is only two and a half weeks old.

IMac Intel :: New Imac Core I7 Monitor Has Left Side Darker Than Right Suddenly
I've had the machine for nearly two weeks now and I wake up this morning and boot up to find that the left side of the screen is noticeably darker and almost has a yellowish tinge as compared to the absolute white right side. This discrepancy is most noticeable when viewing brighter or white material such as the background of any website or text document. This is simply unacceptable for a new machine I just shelled out for. It was working one minute and now I find that the display has this split hemisphering problem where the left side is darker than the right when viewing brighter or white material.

I have apple care thankfully. I need this issue resolved... is there something I can do on my end to recalibrate the monitor so that both sides are displaying properly? Is there a software update coming that can fix this problem? Is it really necessary to replace hardware? Do I get it repaired or replaced? How much would it cost? How long would it take?I trust I'm not alone on this one. I've spent the last two weeks getting my machine up and running and I hate the idea that I'm going to have to send it away for long or have it replaced. What's the word regarding this issue? It's driving me insane now.

IMac Intel :: Left Side Of IMac Got Dark
for 1 day now, I have the problem that the left side of my iMac's display (27", late 2009) got dark. It happens regularly after 15 minutes of use. After a restart it disappers but appears again after 15 minutes.I bought this iMac new in the end of 2009. In my opinion, this problem shouldn't and can't appear..

IMac Intel :: Vertical Lines Appearing On Left Side Of Display
I've had a 24" iMac since August of last year and I haven't had any problems, well, no major ones. But recently I've noticed 1, sometimes 2 vertical lines appearing on the left hand side of my screen, they are permanent, and became irritating to the point where I changed my desktop wallpaper to a darker one to hide it. My question is, as I do not have AppleCare, is it worth me even bothering to have them try and rectify it or anything like that? i've had it under a year (so its still under warranty I presume?) So I wouldn't expect something like this to be happening on such an expensive piece of hardware.

IMac Intel :: Strange Vertical Line Appeared On The Left Hand Side Of Monitor?
I purchased my iMac A1224 in late October 2008. Last week a strange vertical line appeared on the left hand side of my monitor that would not go away. Sometimes it was a purple colour, sometimes it'd change to blue, and sometimes it'd vibrate a little. After reading the Apple discussion forums I came across multiple threads on widespread vertical line display issues with other Apple computers (especially the G5).

However, I haven't really seen any discussions on whether or not models after the G5 (ones produced in 2008 or later) also had thse display issues.I'm quite choked that even though I haven't owned my computer 2 years, I have this vertical line display issue that appears to have a long history with Apple desktops, my warranty is expired, and my computer is now in the shop to be fixed.

Upon first calling Apple Technical Services about this issue I was told that the extended warranty for the vertical line display issue was known but not with my model (A1224). I was then told that I was to bring it to my closest Apple Service Department for repair. I was then told that it would be covered for repair if it was an Apple hardware issue, but if it was due to personal damage, I would have to pay.

I took my computer into the closest Apple Service Centre. A day later I get a call from the Service people saying that when they called Apple they had no record of my call, nor was I given a case number, and that I should call them immediately.

Upon calling Apple Technical Services again they advised that the only record they had on me calling was a week ago and all that was put on my file was that I was to bring it in for servicing. None of the details regarding the issue was put on the file, nor what was told to me about the issue being covered by Apple if it was hardware related.

I now have a case number (which I was not provided the first time), was directed to a supervisor who advised me that my model is not covered under the extended warranty (regardless of Apple having a LONG history of vertical display issues with their desktops and regardless of what I was told the first time when I called Technical services and spoke to a representative.

So now I've been told that all they can do is forward my issue (with screenshots) and the information from the Service Centre I took the computer to, to the engineers and let them make a call on it.Right now I'm thoroughly disappointed with my Apple purchase, and if I'm left with a hefty repair bill, it will be the last Apple product I buy.

MacBook Pro :: Dead Pixels On Screen / Screen Is Brighter Towards Left Side
I'm wondering how uniform the backlighting is on everyone's mid-2010 MBPs. The screen on mine is sort of a gradient, with the screen becoming progressively brighter towards the left side. There are also what appear to be columns where the screen is slightly darker than the surrounding area. This makes it annoying to read in low-light conditions because the left side of the screen will be at a comfortable level when the right side is slightly too dim, or the other extreme. I absolutely cannot stand dead/hot pixels though which makes me hesitant to have the screen replaced. I just bought the notebook a week ago but I don't want it replaced, as I installed a Moshi PalmGuard before I noticed the screen issues. I also installed an InvisibleShield but I can have that replaced at no cost.

MacBook Air :: White Pixel On Lower Left Side Of Screen
I've had my MBA just under a week now and last night I noticed a single white pixel in the lower left side of the screen. Of course it doesn't show up in screen grabs but it also doesn't show up on black screens. I'm only seeing it on top of white, gray and other colored screens (shows up on the red, blue green screens in pixel tester), there's also a small halo around the pixel against a white background. It also doesn't seem to follow the usual pattern of a dead pixel, it will disappear for a time and then reappear. I tried very gently rubbing the area with soft cloth and it doesn't seem to do anything. I haven't had any of the other screen issues but I was really hoping this was just something actually on the screen. I spent a week getting my MBA up and running and so far I absolutely love it. I did the 4GB ram upgrade which I'm thinking means I'd have to send it back to Apple for a replacement, especially with software that's has hardware activation.

MacBook :: Speaker On Right Side Louder Than On Left Side?
It's only today that I noticed my MacBook's right speaker is considerably louder than the one on the left. I opened Sound panel in System Preferences to see if the balance was off, but it was set at dead center. Then, I dragged the balance slider all the way to the left to see if the sound coming from the left speaker was okay at all. Well, it sure isn't. Very muffled, muddy sound. No highs at all. Dragging the slider to the right side reveals a very different sound texture. Very crisp, as it should be. Really weird. Anybody else experiencing this odd speaker behaviour?

I googled for this problem and found this thread, right here on Mac Forums. It's a thread for the MacBook Pros, though. The people with a MacBook Pro think it's because there's a subwoofer on the right side. Well, the MacBook doesn't have a subwoofer, so it can't be that. Any ideas? Is it repair time?

By the way, I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook, the 2,4GHz model.
