IMac Intel :: Internet Dropping On Both Via WiFi / Ethernet

Two days a go, the internet in the area that I live was out for some hours. (During the WWDC keynote, mind you). After that my iMac won't work properly. Both via WiFi and ethernet, it loads a page, when clicking on a link nothing happens for some 30 or more seconds. Then it loads. Same with the next link and then it works fast for two clicks and then starts to drop again. When browsing on my iPhone or iPad in the same network it works just fine, so I find it odd that it wont work either on WiFi or ethernet on the iMac. Anything I can reset or so, that might get the work done?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Keeps Dropping Ethernet Internet Connection?
I know this has been a wifi issue for many, but this is occurring with ethernet as well on our iMac 2.93. Only began with Lion update. All other 5 Macs (Snow Lep/Lep/Tiger) and several PC's on network have no problem. Have set iMac's internet connections to static/manual ip. Worked for a few days, then back to dropping. This is obviously an OS issue.

IMac Intel :: Internet Sharing Keeps Dropping Multiple Times
I have set my iMac to share my internet connection so that I can use my MacBook wherever I am in my halls/dorm. Since last year the connection between them keeps dropping multiple times per day and I'm left with an exclamation mark on the Airport icon on my MacBook. It sometimes resolved by renewing the DHCP lease on my iMac and sometimes by restarting Airport, but most of the time both fail and if they do work it's never for very long (a few minutes).

The only way to get it working properly again is to restart my iMac. I've also noticed that whenever the connection drops, a new network appears in the Airport menu called "Free Public WiFi". When I looked this up it seems to be an issue with Windows; something I stay well clear of and have never connected to or allowed anyone to connect to my network.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Internet Sharing Dropping Wifi Signal After Update To 10.7.4
Equipment: iMac 21.5" 2.5GHz Quad Core i5

Internet Set-up: Cable modem to iMac Ethernet

Problem: After recent update to Lion 10.7.4, my Wi-Fi signal via Internet Sharing keeps dropping. Have multiple iDevices failing that were working perfectly with 10.7.3 (Nook and iPhone 4). iPhone shows full Wi-Fi signal strength and works for a short time after reset (via Wi-Fi off/on, Internet Sharing off/on). Continues to show full Wi-Fi signal strength but loses connection after 1-2 minutes. And not just internet connection; I can't transfer pics/vids from iPhone to iMac either. Have switched to a channel no one nearby is using (channel 9) to no avail.

IMac Intel :: Browser Stalls Loading Pages Using WiFi / Ethernet
I have an Intel iMac (white) that is having severe network issues whether using ethernet or wifi - Safari stalls loading pages (any browser does actually), unless you go into the address bar and hit enter, usually doing that a few times and patiently waiting will get a web page to load. Apple mail will usually fail to get my mail the first time but if I "re-get" my mail it works (or if I cancel the retrieve and do it again it's fine.

I've tried entering DNS, disabling IPV6, make sure there were no input manger hacks etc etc. I've tried a couple of different routers (in case that was the issue). I've done a clean install of Leopard, no different. I would like to point out that this computer was working fine for the past 2.5 yrs until this started happening. Another point is that there are two pcs on this network that access the Internet just fine but my iMac and my Macbook (both with the latest Leopard) have this same issue).

IMac Intel :: 27" WiFi Connection Faster Than Gigabit Ethernet?
I have the latest 27" iMac and I assumed using the ethernet port would be faster than using wireless N network, however this doesnt appear to be the case. The current setup I have is the Billion 7800N router wired up to the iMac using Cat-6 cables and Cat-6 to the NAS - Western Digital 2TB World II. All hardware is capable of gigabit speeds. These are brand new Cat-6 cables.

Im copying 217GB of data from the iMac to the NAS box, originally using wireless on the iMac and it was going to take 15 hours, so I figured I'd wire it in so that it should be connecting at 1000mb/s. After connecting the iMac up its saying its going to take 22 hours! Surely having everything wired up at gigabit speeds it would take LESS than the estimated wireless speeds? Which leads me to thinking the iMac is lying about it being a gigabit ethernet port and doesn't actually connect at gigabit speeds despite the network utility reporting so.

IMac Intel :: PC (XP) Internet Is Sketchy Via Ethernet From (i7)
My Imac i7 is connected to my router via Airport and works fine. I have a PC (XP) connected to my Imac via ethernet for file sharing and internet access. The file sharing is fine and not a problem. The internet connection on the other hand is now sketchy, that is, it now takes 2 or 3 attempts to reach a website from my PC. It was working fine before. As far as I can tell, the Imac settings are correct and since file sharing is okay I would assume the ethernet card in my PC is fine. Anyone encounter something like this.

IMac Intel :: Internet Connection Lost After Sleep - Ethernet
I have just started using a new router (a Linksys). My problem is that after the iMac comes out of sleep I cannot get an internet connection using ethernet. It is not the router, a PC connected at the same time does not lose its connection and the internet light on the router stays lit. When I lose the connection I cannot access the router's web page @ 192.168.1.1. The admin login box appears but with a name that relates to a previous router I used. OS X Leopard :: Time Capsule Over Ethernet - Internet Over WiFi
Heres what I need to do: I connect to the internet over wireless, as my router is at the other side of the house. What I also need to do is connect my Time Capsule via ethernet, so backups etc. will be faster. Ideally, the TC would replace the built-in wireless device, but that apparently cannot be done (DHCP issues, etc. see [URL].) So - Internet over WiFi, TC over Ethernet. Do I need static routes in place?

Mac OS X Lion Server :: No Connection To The Internet With Ethernet, Only Over Wifi?
After switching to a new provider and getting a new dsl modem (a fritz!box fon 7390) I tried to setup my homenetwork again. Now the weird thing is: my Mac Mini running OSX Lion Server doesn't seem to be able to connect to the internet over its ethernet port, only when using a WiFi connection...When it's connected with ethernet it can reach the dsl modem without any problems, but it can't ping/telnet or anything else through, only over WiFi... As long as I use the mini servers WiFi connection everything works fine, but that doesn't make any sense to me.I've checked the servers setting and the Fritz!box settings and I can't seem to find anything obvious. Of course I could just go on and use the WiFi connection...

ps: all the other computers can connect fine using either wifi or regular lan connection... I even tried the exact same cable with another laptop just to make sure...

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Ethernet Internet Connection Fails But Not WiFi?
I am on a Mac Mini connected to the Net via a FON wireless router and Ethernet directly to my broadband modem. I have had problems with both the modem and an Airport Extreme, which eventually died, but I am back up again with the modem via the FON router. The odd thing is that I can't get Ethernet to work over a direct connection to the modem. Diagnostics tells me that the ISP and Internet fails. I can connect to the modem over Ethernet, however, change its settings etc. in my browser. There are solutions mentioned here involving changing the etc/authorization file, but wouldn't that also affect the WiFi if that was the problem?

In short, Ethernet connection to modem works. WiFi connection to FON router and then to the ISP and Internet works. But the Ethernet configuration does't go that last bit, it only works locally. Using that route, I can't connect to the outside world. I have restarted the modem, the computer etc., but that should not be the problem as both works over WiFi, using the same settings for the modem. How do I best troubleshoot this? I am getting an AirPort Express, perhaps it will work better with the modem that the computer itself, but I doubt it.

Intel Mac :: Lion Keep Dropping WiFi
My Lion OS 10.7.3 iMac just does not seem to be able to hold a stable connection with my home wifi network. After around ten minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less, usually when I've gotten up to do something else, the wifi is lost. It stays "connected" to the network (ie the wifi bars are black) but no internet comes through. Every time this happens, I turn WiFi off and reconnect and it fixes it every time, but it is still extremely inconvenient and troublesome to have to redo this constantly.

Hardware :: IMac Dropping WiFi Active Connection
My Linksys WRT610N with the latest firmware worked fantastically on multiple Windows 7-based ThinkPad. However, three (3) different iMac's have had the very same problem of dropping the connection and of my having to powercycle both my cable modem and the W610 router for it to work again at all! Once it drops the active connection, that's it. I have tried a few different settings and nothing has made a difference.

Can you maybe help point me in the right direction or should I just ditch it for an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule? One additional point: It works worst in the 5GHz frequency band, even though there are none in my neighborhood, and if there are, they have their SSID's (network name) hidden. The 2.4GHz band is extremely crowded where I am which makes it difficult to enjoy my WiFi connection.

I even did a hardware test using the supplied DVD. How can I be sure that the iMac WiFi card hardware is ok or not. Intel Mac :: It Keeps Dropping And Instantly Resetting My Wifi Connection
Every 2-20 minutes, my iMac is dropping, then instantly resetting my wifi connection. The actual wifi drop lasts no longer than 5 seconds, and instantly reconnects itself with no input from me... the problem is it completely interrupts any downloading, streaming, gaming, or anything else I might be doing that requires a constant internet connection. It seems to drop off just long enough to stop the connection, then it resets all on it's own.

I'm currently using a mid-2011 27 inch iMac intel core i5 3.1 ghz processor w/ OS X Lion 10.7.3. I have a Linksys router and a GCI issued modem, unsure of the brand as there are minimal markings on it. The internet/tv service (run by GCI) is smooth throughout the rest of my home, and no other items we own connected to the net seem to have the same problem...

I have tried soft resets on both the modem and router. I have restarted my machine several times and re-added the network location and wifi connection to my computer. I have unplugged both modem and router to let those reset and have unplugged and reconnected my coax cable for several minutes as well. No time of day seems to work well, and it's becoming quite difficult to work and do other fun functions like stream television or game

Intel Mac :: When Sharing Internet Through Ethernet Wireless Internet Dies
For specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port.  I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive.  BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac.  Still have full wireless signal.  preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet. As soon as  turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again.  And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before.  That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?
