IMac Intel :: Connecting To Panasonic DVD Recorder?

I need to connect my new iMac to my Panasonic DVD Recorder, which only has 3-RCA input. I tried it via connecting the iMac to my HDVT and then from the TV to the DVD Recorder , but that did not work. Is there a way to connect the iMac to the DVD Recorder? With my Windows Notebook it's no problem at all. I want to record movies from a German TV Station, that streams via FlashVideo.

IMac :: Connecting A DVD/HDD Recorder?
This weekend i end up with my father's LG dvd/hdd recorder. What i recall it has 80Gb of hdd. My idea was to connect it to the t.v and the iMac. The iMac part was basicaly to transfer the movies to the LG hdd

This is the model: LG RH7500

And the connections specs:

SCART Connectors: Output x 2 Outputs: Composite x 1, Component x 1, Analog Audio x 1, Digital Audio Coaxial x 1, Digital Audio Optical x 1

Front Panel: Composite Input / S-Video Input / iLINK DV Input

I've been searching the online apple store for cables and saw some, but don't know if this is possible to do, and if it is, what cables i have to buy.

PS: about the dvd/hdd recorder model, i don't know if this is the one, i have to get home to make sure. will post it here later.

PS2: probably many of you will say "- why don't get apple tv, or another multimedia hdd." That's easy, shoooooooort of money lolol, this way i recycle what i have, later i might put a bigger hdd. time will tell.

IMac Intel :: Trouble Connecting Panasonic HDC-HS300 Camcorder To IMac
I am having a bit of trouble connecting my Panasonic HDC-HS300 camcorder to my iMac for transferring high definition video.I have tried using the USB2 connection but final cut pro doesn't seem to recognise it. My iMac only seems to have Firewire on top of this whereas my camcorder has HDMI or 'component'. Is it possible to get an HDMI to Firewire cable, and will this work for what i am attempting to do?Any help would be great before i go off buying cables that might not work!

Final Cut Pro :: Connecting Panasonic HDC-HS300 To IMac?
Basically, ive just made the step up to a high definition video camera and am having a few problems getting it sorted.

I have a panasonic HDC-HS300 video camera which i have tried to connect. The only cable it came with connected to my imac with a USB2 and final cut pro doesn't seem to recognise it.

strangely imovie seems to but when i import the files they seem to be kind of blurry and when paused seem to be two shots combined or something.

I am guessing i need a cable (guessing a firewire cable) but have taken the camera into a few shops including an apple shop and no one seemed to know anything.

whether it is a new cable i need and if so which one specifically? On the camcorder there seems to be 'component', 'HDMI', or 'USB2'. I am trying to import the video in the highest possible quality i can (High definition).

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To DV Cassette Recorder And External HD?
Before getting my MBP, I had a G4 eMac, which had two 6PF firewire outlets. The firewire cables from my external HDs had the matching plugs, and I got a 4PF-6PM adapter for the firewire cable on my DV deck.
The firewire port on the new MBP looks different from the ones on my old eMac (9P?). What kind of adapter should I get? Also, any opinions on getting a firewire card for the ExpressCard 34 slot? I understand they come with two ports. How many pins do those ports have? I guess I'd have to get more adapters for my external HDs and my DV deck.

Applications :: Connecting Mac With Internet Enabled LG HD Recorder?
I recently bought an LG HD Recorder. After the purchase, I only then realised that it is only connectable to PC via a software called "Nero Media Home 4 Essentials". Therefore this software cannot be used on a Mac. I wrote to LG and theyconfirmed that it is only for PC and they do not intend to issue one that is to be used for Mac. It would be awesome to be able to connect Mac with the HD Recorder, as I can then stream music from iTunes etc. As such I am not able to fully use this incredible piece of equipment.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Unable To Play On Mac DVD Burned On Sony DVD Recorder
I burned an old VHS onto a Sony DVR-R disc, using a Sony RDR-VX560 Recorder. The resultant DVD played fine on the Sony TV set, but I could not play it on my Mac. On insertion into the Mac, I got a Disc icon titled: "Sony_DVD_RECORDER_VOLUME" but the Disc did not open automatically, as usual, nor would it open in the DVD Player app. Upon double clicking the icon a screen w/the DVD title as its name appeared w/a folder titled "DVD_RTAV" opened, w/2 items enclosed. The 2 enclosed folders, were titled "VR_MOVIE.VRO" and "VR_MANGR.IFO" respectively. Upon opening the folders, each produced a DVD Player app msg: "There was a problem opening the media. The media type is not supported." This was my 1st attempt at dubbing though I have been successfully burning and playing the same Sony discs on this Mac and TV for some time w/minimal problems.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Converting Files From DVD Recorder Disc To FCP?
I am trying to get the video and audio file off an older dvd recorder disk that I made and I'm not able to do it. I tried MPEG Streamclip and the dvd won't transfer over for some reason. I also tried to copy and paste the folder on the dvdr to the desktop and it copies up to about 60% and then stalls. Does anyone know of another method to get the files off of the dvdr? I want to change the beginning on a FC timeline and then go to DVDSP and loop for encoded file for an installation where they need the dvd to be playing continuously.

IMac Intel :: IMovie Not Recognize Panasonic Camcorder
I've had a Panasonic PV GS400 for a few years. I've flawlessly imported video into my old G4 tower. I recently purchased a new iMac. Because the Firewire cable that I had was for FW400, I had to buy a 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire 800 cable to connect the camcorder to the computer. But it is not recognizing the camcorder. I tested the firewire port on the Mac with other peripherals and it is working properly. And I'm still able to connect the camcorder to the G4 tower no problem, so the camcorder is working properly.

I then figured it was a bad cable, so I bought a new one. Same deal. I even tried connecting the camcorder with the new cable to my MacBook Pro FW800 port. No go. But when I tried it on the MBP Firewire 400 port it worked fine. So my question is this, is anyone aware of an issue like this where a relatively new (2006) camcorder can't be recognized by FW800? I was finally able to import video onto the iMac by 1) connecting an external FW400 hard drive to the Mac's FW800 port with a 6 to 9 pin connector then 2) connecting the camcorder to the FW400 port on the external drive. It works, but is hardly elegant.

IMac Intel :: IMovie Not Identifying Panasonic Camera
I'm using a new 9 to 4 pin cable to connect my camcorder to iMac. But iMovie does not recognize the camera. All I get is a new window showing the image from iSight Camera. Next to "Camera" it only has one option which is the iSight camera. Also, I have a 6 to 4 pin cable that I used with the camcorder before with my PC. Should I be using a 9 to 6 pin adapter with the old cable instead of the new cable?

IMac Intel :: Using Firewire 800 - Can't See Panasonic Camcorder On Final Cut Express
I have a new IMAC 27 in, intel dual processor (which I love) and its running the lastest version of snow leopard. I got it for video editing (dec 09) and I'm fairly new to macs and the firewire 800.

I have a panasonic 3ccd camera nNV-GS500 and after finally figuring it out I got a new cable - a brand new firewire 800/400 cable. However nothing can be seen when I start up Final Cut pro express or imovie.

I have tried turning off mac, unplugging it, then turning on camera before turning on imac.

Looking at some of the threads it seems there are some issues for seeing camcorders with firewire 800 and that a firmware? (is this a download for hardware update) is an update is due - can anyone confirm what i should do.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: VHS Transfer - Recorder To DVDSP Workflow
I am using a Panasonic DMR-EZ48V Recorder to transfer home video VHS tapes to DVD. I am not happy with the menu/chapter system the recorder uses, so I would like to bring the MPEG-2 files into DVDSP using a DVD+RW disc to create chapters & custom menus. Then I plan to burn to DVD+R.

1) Is there any issue I need to be aware of with this process?
2) This is a pipedream I am sure, but is there any way in DVDSP to output the 1st frame of each chapter so I can make a DVD insert thumbnail index? I thought I would use Photoshop for that, but need to get the images somehow. I'm sure I could use QuickTime, but I'm trying to streamline my workflow as much as possible.

I get one success every about 50 discs to stay in and can burn. I have had the problem when running in Leopard, but not so much so, now I have the problem much more profound after updating to Snow Leopard in September. I switched from PC to Mac because my wife really enjoys video and photo editing on it. She feels very let down that she cannot burn any of her work.

IMac Intel :: Not Connecting To WiFi Modem
My father, who is 82, has been having progressive (and standard) problems with his PC and has finally given in to me and bought a new model iMac 21.5". I drove down to help him set it up (a 2 hour drive) and all went well except that it wouldn't connect to his wireless modem (a Dlink wireless g using WEP encryption), despite the fact that my Macbook Pro, my iPhone and his old PC connected no problems. After much head scratching I finally gave up and rang the Apple care telephone support with quite a bit of enthusiasm to see Apple's renowned service in action. I went through to someone seemingly with no knowledge at all, who kept putting me on hold and never came back from the last hold which was over 7 minutes.

I was on the phone for over 45 minutes and didn't get any help at all. And this is a premium rate phone line - I was being charged to try and put right a problem with a brand new Mac! In desperation I phoned the Southampton Apple store and they were much more helpful but couldn't get it working. In the end my parents had to take it back to the store where it was swapped for a new machine. More phone calls to the Apple care telephone line at more expense. LOTS of frustration and still no working machine. Tomorrow I make another 4 hour round trip taking my Airport Extreme with me to see if that will solved.

IMac Intel :: Connecting Two With Firewire Cable
I have two iMac, one is a 24" early 2009 model (from now on, the "big") andthe other is a 21" first generation Intel (from now on, the "small") Big one is sick, need heavy reparation. So a user of the forum recommended this: "Since you're able to post here, you have another Mac. You can use a FireWire cable to connect your iMac to another Mac in Target Disk Mode. This essentially turns your iMac into an expensive external HD enclosure. To boot your iMac into Target Disk Mode, start up your iMac and hold down the T key immediately after you hear the startup sound. Release it when you see the big FireWire symbol on the screen.

Then you can use a FireWire cable to connect your iMac to another Mac. This should mount the iMac's hard disk on the desktop of the other Mac. I suggest you use DiskWarrior to try to recover the files on your iMac's hard disk." So, mi issue is that big one doesn't have a Firewire port. It's almost unbelievable but the true is that those models never came with that kind of port.
