I have a guest account set up on my Airport Extreme. I'm trying to hook up a wireless gaming adapter (xbox) to a Slingbox. It's worked in the past with linksys routers that had no security. When I set up the airport, I set security by default, but I want to remove it from the guest account. I just can't find the way to configure the guest account. I'm sure its pretty easy and just a button I can't find.

Background: I have a long background in computing and networking, but am new to the specific operation of the Apple Airport Extremes.
I have a network with an existing router in place that connects to the internet, and provides DHCP for the network. I want to add (potentially many) Airport Extremes to this network to provide two basic functions:
1) Wireless access to the existing network over a large office area (preferably on the same subnet as the existing, wired network, with the current router [NOT the AEs] providing DHCP services) and
2) Guest network access such that users joining the guest network can access the internet, but NOT any of the addresses on the main network.
I can find no way to do this trivially. It seems that if I set the AEs to BRIDGE mode, the option to set up a guest network disappears (perhaps reasonably so, since the AE would need to be able to manage the address range for the two networks).
Is it possible to implement a similar function like Guest Networking on an older Airport Extreme router? I'm sharing the internet with housemates but would like to shield my own computers from the network. Is it possible without upgrading the router?
I can't seem to get my airport express to extend the guest network from my new airport extreme. It will extend the private network but the guest network doesn't show up in the list under airport utility. Is there anyway to extend the internet only except to one computer which needs to share a printer back to the original extreme?
I just purchased a new AirPort Extreme with the guest networking feature. I loaded the config from my previous AirPort Extreme and everything seems to be working fine with the exception of the guest networking feature. When I have a guest attempting to log into the guest network, it displays the error: "connection failed". I am able to connect my iPhone(listed MAC in router) to the guest network just fine however, my "guest" laptop that has no MAC address in the router will not connect. It sounds like a MAC ACL issue. I currently have the "(default)" set to no access.
Anyone have the new Airport Extreme? I have a question about the new features.
I'm interesting in picking one up because I've been looking for a good 802.11n router for awhile, and the simultaneous dual-band radios plus the guest networking feature are the real sellers for me. Both those features exist in part on other routers, but I'd have to put in a lot of work in a DD-WRT compatible router to get them both to work properly.
My question, though, is can both the dual-band radios and the guest networking feature be run simultaneously? It seems that from a hardware perspective, the easiest way to get a second network and SSID running would be to use the second radio, which precludes the dual-band feature. Does anyone have the new Airport Extreme yet? Can you run both at the same time?
I went to the account tab in preferences but I don't see the guest account. did this change with Snow Leopard. I want to take the guest account off my laptop.
I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

I am considering having a roommate move in and letting them use my Mac. If I create them a guest account can I ensure that my e-mail and files will be secure by having this second account, or is there another way to accomplish this?
MacBook Pro 15" mid 2009..After my 2 year old had a tantrum and threw a toy at my Mac which unfortunately had a drink next to it-with a consequential spillage-my MacBook is rebelling.
Issue: keys Cap lock, R and 4 do not work and Mac boots only in safe mode. Account is pw protected-my pw begins with R and have no guest a/c active. Do i need a new keyboard or is there a cheaper way?
I just configured my Gmail IMAP account in Mail.app. In the Settings > Labels section of Gmail, I unselected the "All Mail" label. In Mail.app, I chose the Gmail > Trash mailbox and then "Use this mailbox for Trash" from the Mailbox menu, and did the same for Spam and Drafts.
Now there are no mailboxes listed in the Gmail mailbox, but it still appears there at the top of the mailbox list with a little triangle next to it. When I click on the triangle to expand, there's nothing in there - but the mailbox won't go away. It's an off-white color whereas all the other mailboxes are the standard bluish color.
All of a sudden I am not able to attach files to my emails. Whether it is a jpeg or an invoice from Quickbooks as a pdf, it will not attach. A friend suggested that I drag and drop onto the email and that would not work either. I am on a Mac / operating system is 10.5.8.
I am writing to report a software incompatibility between Mail and Gmail accounts with 2-step verification enabled.[URL]Gmail provides application specific passwords for these circumstances but those aren't working for me with Mail:[URL]Based on a review on online forums it seems many are having this problem.
I have an 17" i7 MBP which has connection issues with my Airport Express. Sometimes, it connects on the first try, other times I have to turn the airport, on the MBP, on and off several times before it will connect. Sometimes that won't even work, so I put the mbp to sleep, wake it back up, then it will connect. Once connected, it works fine and never have any of the disconnect problems I have read about.
The other weird thing is that at the office, where we use non-apple wireless access points, I never see an issue.
I am attempting to set up a wireless network with an AirPort Express in order to access the Internet from my iPod touch. My computer is a 2002 PowerBook G4/667 running OS X 10.4.11 (the latest OS it can run), and according to an Apple Store Genus, either the AirPort card or the AirPort antenna is shot, rendering the PowerBook useless as a wireless device. Adding to the pain, my cable modem has only one Ethernet port. Hence, I have purchased a Belkin F5D5050 USB/Ethernet adapter (and installed USBPegasusEthernet 1.0.9 as a kernel extension to make it work).
Which I plan to use to connect the AirPort Express to the computer (via the Ethernet port on the Express and the USB port on the PowerBook). The modem would be connected via Ethernet directly to the PowerBook's sole Ethernet port. Everything I read on the Internet says that I should be able to configure the AirPort Express over Ethernet via AirPort Admin Utility, but the utility doesn't seem to see the Express, even if I directly connect them to each other (one Ethernet port to the other). How I could make my network operational?
I use outlook for my e-mail (hate it) and ran an update. Now when I try to open outlook mail it says an older version of outlook is running and to delete daemon from start up.
Why does my system keep rejecting my (correct!) btinternet.com password for mail retrieval? I can still get them via BT Yahoo, but I prefer the mac mail. It's happened out of the blue- I've switched the system off and back on, but still...then I've reset my bt password, but nothing....
I was trying to access my father's wireless network while I was home for a week. I found a utility to configure for a mac (my dad only has Windows), but after running it, and it failed to find the router, my airport will not turn on. The option to "turn AirPort on" is grayed out and cannot be clicked. I have attached two pictures to illustrate. I have restarted twice to no avail.
Just moved back to school and got our internet set up. Our internet service came with a simple cable modem and no router. I set up my airport express to give my apartment wifi, but the problem is, xbox doesn't have wireless built in (i refuse to purchase the wireless dongle). So my roommates and i purchased an ethernet network hub. We made one connection to my airport express, and one connection directly into the xbox. Now here's what we can't figure out. We can only configure one or the other to work at a time. We can't get them both to work at the same time. We configure the xbox, and the airport express won't work. We then reconfigure the airport, and we get kicked off of xbox live. Does anyone know a way to get both of these to work simultaneously?
I've recently activated the default guest account in leopard. However even though when I check in the accounts.prefpane it says that it is on and its 'login only' and when I click on the account it says 'allow guests to login into this computer' and its on. However when I boot up my machine and click on the guest icon, it wont let me in as it shakes the menu (login failed).
I just bought my first macbook pro 15" retina display, i already set up the speed of mouse under my acct now i am trying to do the same for the guest acct which I've done it but every time i log out and log back in the speed of the mouse under the guest acct goes back to the way it was before! how can i make it stay?
