Final Cut Pro :: Capturing From DV Tape - No Audio?

I am trying to capture footage recorded in DV. The camcorder is connected via firewire, set to DV. The project in FCP is set to DV NTSC. Every time I capture I think I have audio on the playback until I finish the capture, save the project and disconnect the camera to find that there is no audio and it was reading from the camera. This happens if the audio capture settings are set to 48kz, or if I use the 32kz that I created (using 48kz as a template) based on advice I saw in another post. If I start a new project and just switch from my default HDV to HD, I can capture with sound but I always get the message that the capture audio settings don't match the source tape and that I will end up with a delay.

Final Cut Pro :: Finding Audio On Tape?
There is supposed to be some audio captured on it somewhere, but I can't find it. If it's there it's the only thing on the tape. It's possible something is wrong with the playback settings or perhaps there is nothing there at all. Basically is there a way of finding out more about the tape and more importantly being able to scan through it to see if there's anything recorded on it at all without having to listen through all of it. Trying to capture using JVC HD 101 & Final cut 5.1.4.

Final Cut Pro :: Audio Sync With Edit To Tape?
I have several timelines all 10 bit uncompressed 29.97fps. I am using a Kona 3 video card on a Macpro.

Each timeline plays back perfectly with audio in sync in FCP. If I output a quicktime file it is in sync. When I edit to tape to HDCAM (using SDI with embedded audio) the video is around 2 sec behind the audio. I have monitored the audio and video via the Kona 3 and it is in sync.

Final Cut Pro :: Capturing Only One Audio Track When There Are Two
I had to fiddle with the capture settings in Final Cut to accommodate for progressive HDV video. When I changed it back to my normal interlaced HDV video, I had trouble with the sound tracks. (I have tried changing all the settings in the HDV 50i possibilities. I'm in europe). I only get one sound track instead of two (but I can hear both sound tracks when I capture). If I get 2 sound tracks, They aren't imported into the project. If I try to import them without restarting, final cut doesn't recognize them. But recently, no matter what I do (changing settings) I only get 1 audio track.

i have been trying to capture video, with 2 audio channels on stereo.

In the Log & Capture --> Clip Settingd window, i disable the little green speaker icons for the audio track 3-8. Then link the green icons for tracks 1 & 2, to make it stereo.

Yet it still captures 1 track of stereo, and 6 of Mono.

Anyone know why this may be? Anything else i can try to fix this?

i am using FCP 7. Whatever codec i try and capture in, the same problem happens. I have AJA KONA card with appropriate updated drivers.

Final Cut Pro :: Video And Audio Out Of Sync After Capturing Footage
After capturing footage, the audio and video are out of sync in the clip AND when I drag it to the timeline. When I go through each part, it looks like the video hesitates often, which seems to be causing the misalignment of audio. But, once it is moved into alignment, it goes out of sync again throughout the remainder of the one hour video. I'm capturing through a Canon Optura 50 Mini DV and editing with FCP 6.0.1. I have checked that the audio mode is set to 16 bit on the camera, and the capture settings have the audio rate for 48 KHz. This same problem occurred when I was capturing another event last week. It won't get aligned even if I take the hours and hours to move the audio left and right frame by frame. I'm saving it to the desktop Hard Drive in a folder I created. I unselected abort for dropped frames. I have it set for Firewire NTSC Basic.

Final Cut Pro :: Audio Sample Rate Error Message After Capturing
I am capturing footage off a Sony Handycam DCR-HC28. After capturing a clip with the capture preset as DV NTSC 48 KHz I received an audio sample error message. The message reads "The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sue the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape." Although when I play it in the viewer, it looks to be in sync. I'm guessing that it will eventually drift. I tried finding the camcorder's audio sample rate specs online with conflicting information off different blogs. The sony site doesn't list the audio sample rate.

I assume this may be because it's a consumer camcorder. I then tried capturing with a 32 KHz setting since it's a consumer camcorder. Following the capture a window appeared that read: "Analyzing DV audio, validating audio data". The window then closed. I thought I was in the clear, but when I play it back in the Viewer, it's completely out of sync. (I even changed my project setting to be 32 KHz). After the 32KHz test, I tried it at 44.1 HKz and that gave me the same error message as when I captured it at 48 KHz. My only other thought is that I upgraded to from Tiger to Leopard and this is the first I've used FCP since that upgrade. Leopard did give me a few minor problems in a non-editing application following the upgrade.

Final Cut Pro :: Get Around Source Tape While Importing A DV Tape?
so I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 3 and I am attempting to import (to Final Cut Pro 7) DV tapes via a Samsung digital camcorder (model: SC-D365) and a 800/400 Firewire cable. However after a certain amount of time (it varies from capture to capture) a message pops up and displays the following "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved". The tapes themselves play perfectly on the camera. Also the few clips that I have gathered after many attempts have tons of audio holes. I am new to Final Cut Pro and have tried everything and I really need to figure this out because the tapes that I have are the only tapes of the project. Any help would be appreciated and since I am new to the program I would greatly appreciate detailed steps if you know how to fix it.

Final Cut Pro :: Interlacing On HD Cam Tape
I edited a feature film shot on the Panasonic HVX 200 DVCPRO HD at 1080p30 vid rate 29.97. My sequence settings in Final Cut Pro are at DVCPRO HD 1080p30. Editing time base 29.97. I went to an HD cam tape 1080i/59.94. But there is subtle interlacing when I watch it. I notice the interlacing in final cut pro too. Was I supposed to do some sort of pulldown when I initially converted the P2 cards into quicktimes? Did I do it wrong? Or is it a sequence setting in FCP? Is there a way to reverse it?

Is it possible? I've just used a SONY M25 DVCAM deck and not been able to send timecode from FCP to the deck. It generates its own timecode and does not recognise timecode via firewire. The manual says it does take timecode via RS422 cable.

Is this standard for all decks? Do any decks allow timecode in from FCP using firewire and therefore precise assemble edit control?

Final Cut Pro :: Using HDV Capturing As DV?
I have an HDV Camera to capture and edit source footage so I can work in HD with FCP but after using the 'create new clip' option to get around time-breaks on the tape, I found in the browser that all the material I have been capturing isn't HDV...the project sequences are in HDV but the captured clips are DV.

The camera I'm using is a Sony HDV1080I HDR-HC3E AND I have all the Audio/Video settings on HDV.

Is this just how FCP compressors HDV footage while you edit or is it my mistake?

Final Cut Pro :: Using HDV Capturing?
I've always been able to log and capture tape to Final Cut Pro 6 using a Sony HDV Clamshell via Firewire Basic. Recently whenever I log and capture it will capture for 5-10 seconds and then start to break up and stop (media stream issue), or freeze on a frame indefinitely (searching for media, etc).. I switched tapes and did some basic troubleshooting -restarting the program/computer, etc. I tried capturing using Apple Pro Res formats, Uncontrollable Device settings, etc. I tried capturing straight from my camera, and the same thing happens. I'm wondering if my system is simply overloaded. I have two external hard drives, and my files are saved on both. One of them (Maxtor 1TB -which is full) quit about a week ago, and has been working off and on since, and since then my system seems really taxed and slow. I've been trying to work around it with my 2 TB G-Drive (memory half full). Final Cut Pro has a hard time opening and responding.. I suspect this has something to do with my capturing issue..

The projects tried lived both on internal drives and on external firewire drives.

Once I print to tape monitor connected to the deck goes gray and have no audio but the sequence still plays out on the desktop monitor fine. Tried changing deck settings but nothing helped.
