Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Chapter 1 Keeps Repeating?

Everything burned just fine, I thought, on the Verbatim Dual Layer disc. However, when played the DVD repeated the first chapter each time, never proceeding to the 2nd of the 14 chapters.

First play is "not set" and there is no loop selection that I am aware of selecting. Movie was created in FCP latest version and DVD SP latest version. I played it on several desk top players and 2 laptops and this happened with each of them.

what have I selected that makes this happen?

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Don't See Chapter Markers In DVD SP
I don't see chapter markers I expected to find in my DVD SP project. This was my first time placing chapter markers in FC and it was my understanding they would appear in the DVD SP timeline. Here's my workflow:

I exported a sequence from FC that had four chapter markers using 'quicktime movie'/current settings/not self contained. Opened in compressor and exported at best settings for 90-minute film for SD DVD.

I brought the clip into DVD SP and placed it into track one. No markers. Do I have to do something to make DVD SP find the markers? Have I made a mistake?

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Chapter Count On The DVD Disc?
I have a dvd with 22 chapters marked in FCP. On the main menu page I have four buttons with the names Chapters 1to5 C 6to11 C 12to17 and C 18to22. The dvd looks and plays fine, however I have one problem that baffles me. When I use the skip chapter button on my dvd remote starting from the very beginning of the disc it starts at chapter 2 not 1 and shows 23 chapters on the disc.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Chapter Return To Main Menu?
I know this is probably a Mac 101 question, but I can't puzzle it out on my own.

How does one get the DVD to return to the main menu after a particular selected and played chapter has finished? So far they just continue on the disk from there to the next chapter.

This is, by the way, not the latest version of DVD Studio Pro; it's 4.1.2.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Menu Play All & Chapter Selections?
I have a client requesting something that he has done with Adobe's DVD authoring system that I don't believe Studio Pro can do, but thought I would put it out there and maybe someone else has figured it out:

He wants 2 menus (MAIN & SUB MENU) - Main would contain play all or chapter selection buttons. Play all button would start from the beginning and play all the way to the end without stopping. Chapter Selections would take you to a SUB MENU where you could select only certain sections...and here is where it's challenging... but after that specific selection (or chapter) is finished, that it return to the Sub Menu, rather than continuing on playing the rest of the movie.

I have done such projects successfully; running time was short enough that it would allow me to make 2 Tracks. one with no chapter markers that would play all the way to the end, and the other with chapter markers indicating to jump back to a sub menu. Obviously this doubles the amount of data and it is not an option for this 95 minute program.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Chapter Skip Forward - Not Advance To Next Track
I am working on a project with 3 tracks and 3 menus. I have 3 video buttons on each menu. I have a movie that is 98 minutes long and divided this timeline from Final Cut into 3 tracks because I thought it would be best to have a separate track for each menu in DVD Studio Pro. I have the whole project set up with video scene buttons and everything. It's all connected BUT when I am in the last chapter of Track 1, I press the "Chapter Skip Forward" button in the simulator and it will not advance to the first chapter of Track 2.

The same is for the end of Track 2. It will not advance to the first chapter of the 3rd Track. I have the end jump of each track set to the subsequent track. How can I make the tracks jump to the next chapter between tracks? Or do I have to go back into Final cut and combine my 3 tracks into one 98 minute track and bring it back into DVD Studio Pro to make the movie go from chapter to chapter all the way through?

Making a Product Demo that displays each product then returns to menu. I put all products in one track (66 chapters) with no end jumps except for the final chapter loops to beginning (for the loop function) all other End jumps are "not set". I'm using stories to achieve the single play function. I thought the single play story may be triggering the limit. So i split it up into 2 stories. Are all the markers contained in all the stories under the track cumulative? Do I have to rework the track to have under 50 chapters when they're set to "not set"? I did this right 3 years ago, I just can't remember how. Damned memory and lack of use of this program.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Pictures/Thumbnails Are Not Showing Up On My Chapter Index Pages?
I have a question that I can't seem to figure out. I put my chapter markers in Final Cut Pro (using FCP 5/FCP Studio 2) and saved my chapter markers as "chapter markers" when I exported the file to make a Final Cut Quick Time file.

When I import it into DVD Studio Pro all is well. The problem I keep running into is creating the chapter indexes. I created a button called "Chapters". I then bring the project over and drop it in under "Set Chapter Index" option under "Menu."

My chapters show up fine, but there are no thumbnails or pictures over the buttons for the chapters. All I see is plain white writing over the box that I created the buttons with.

Also, when I put in my index chapters this way, it also adds the project again, even though I specify all I want to add are the "Chapter Index Files."

I know I can do this manually, but the point of using the software is so I would not have to. Also, I tried this in iDVD, and my chapter markers with pictures on top of the buttons showed up just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Pro Skipping / Freeze Frame On Chapter Markers?
I'm getting a freeze frame / hiccup on all chapter markers.... I export as quicktime (with DSP markers) from FCP to keep GOP info.... still hiccups... set end jumps to not set.... still hiccups....

I found a few threads about media quality, do I need "duplicate grade" discs for burning masters or something...?

Most direct to market DVD's that I've tested have a fade to black at beginning and end of all chapters (I'm assuming as a workaround for this issue) the only DVD I can find that has seamless chapter transitions is a major studio released DVD "Usual Suspects"

I've been scouring the web for days now and am not finding a solution... I've tried with multiple tracks, single tracks, multiple asset files, single asset files.... all with the same result... same in simulation as on burned DVD...

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Importing Chapter Marker List To Enable Text Tracks
I've googled and searched this thread. Every solution doesn't seem to work for me unless I'm just being completely idiotic. I used BitVice to create my mpeg2s. I exported a non-self-contained file from FCP 7. I didn't think I needed to enable text tracks, but maybe I did. I know I had to in previous QT versions, but thought I didn't in QT 10.0. I have no chapters. I did place them correctly in FCP so no worries there. I exported a marker list from FCP - doesn't matter if I choose all markers, dvd studio pro markers or chapter markers - nothing works when I import into DVD Studio Pro. I've tried cntrl-click on the track as well as file - import. The message I receive says "0 markers" imported. If I drag the file into DVDSP from a finder window, it says the file is incompatible.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Play All Chapters Versus Play Single Chapter
I have a basic DVD that has 5 chapters in it. The main menu allows the user to:

1) Select "Play All" - Plays all chapters then returns to the main menu.

2) Select Chapter X - User selects from one of 5 buttons. Each relates to a chapter. Clicking on this chapter plays only that chapter, then returns to the main menu.

Right now, I have #1 working fine, but for #2, the DVD jumps to that chapter (great), but then continues to play through subsequent chapters until the end, at which point it returns to the main menu.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: Remote Menu Button To The Chapter Menu Or The Main Menu?
Using DVD Pro (version 4.2.1) for the first time, and I've discovered a lot of fun elements. Here is a question about the remote control settings.

I want people to be able to return to the main menu if they want while playing the track, by pressing 'menu' (and I've found the resume feature, too). However, the track has chapters, which are assigned to 3 chapter menus. So, when they are playing a particular chapter, i want them to be able to return from it to the chapter menu it came from, by pressing the 'menu' button.

However, this doesn't work: when playing the video track, pressing the 'menu' button takes me to the chapter menu assigned to that particular chapter, not the main menu that I assigned to the track.

Well, I see in the handbook that the marker remote setting takes precedence over the track setting ... so which would you find preferable:

1. when the viewer is playing the video, the menu button: goes back to the main menu.... then when the viewer is watching a particular chapter, pressing 'menu' also goes back to the main menu, instead of the chapter menu, so viewer has to navigate back into the 'scenes' menu

or

2 when watching the whole video, pressing 'menu' takes the viewer to the chapter menu and then has to 'up' to the Main menu.... and therefore when watching a chapter only, 'menu' button returns to the particular chapter's menu, which is fine.

I thought I would have the 'menu' button return to the chapter menu:: up button for faster/easier access to the main menu, for viewers just watching the video, and convenience for viewers watching a chapter.

Final Cut / DVD Studio :: DVD Studio Pro End Jump
I'm having a problem doing a custom build for a DVD.I want to create a fairly simple dvd with a play all function that links to a track with multiple chapters.I also want a second menu that allows you to choose to watch an individual chapter without playing all the following chapters in the track.

I have tried setting up end jump functions on individual chapters or tracks but the end jump works on the play all option. So for example if at the end of chapter one I have an end jump back to menu 2 if I then map the play all option to the whole track the end jump at the end of chapter 1 still takes you back to menu 2. I can't seem to make the end jump work on one and not the other, short of having two sets of tracks in the project... but this is not possible as there is just over an hour of footage, so if I have a duplicate of the track the quality and operation of the disk is compromised.
