View 24 RepliesI have a pdf file with lots of high-res photos in it. Is there a good way to reduce the file size while keeping the photo quality reasonable? A free utility that allows users to adjust the level of photo quality would be great. Under Preview, I tried "save as" and then "Reduce File Size" with Quartz filter. The file size was reduced by 1/10 but the photos did not look good.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI zipped a .doc file to upload to a job website as the file size was too large (would only accept 100kb max). Now it tells me that the .zip file ext will not be accepted by the website and so I tried to change the file name in the hope that this would be accepted. Unfortunately it does not seem to want to upload this and I am a bit stuck on solutions. I cannot reduce the file size by removing some info from the document as you can understand.

I have searched HELP but have not as yet found an answer. One suggestion was that in my Mail window there is an option to reduce the size of the attachment but I see no such option in my email.

I have used the standard "Reduce File Size" Quartz filter but find the resulting files way too grainy. I want to have a filter that is a stand between but cannot seem to make a filter using the ColorSync utility that applies to PDFs. I want a free method to do this of course and am pretty confused as to why Apple hasn't given the user the option to control the output of the PDF in Preview. That is basic PDF viewer material.

In order for FCP to be able to log and transfer my video from my panasonic camcorder, I shoot on a camcorder setting that creates great video, but the files sizes are huge. Almost 1gb a minute. The video comes in 1920 x 1080, apple prores 422, 29.97 fps. I want to edit the footage and then export the timeline using a setting that will drastically reduce the file size.Â

The newest version of iTunes is taking up my whole screen but I can no longer find the little red/green buttons to make it smaller. I can't even minimize it with Command-M. I tried a force quit and restart of iTunes, but same thing. Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used Handbrake to encode several movies. Because I wanted them as "lossless" as possible they were encoded used H.264 (and are m4v files) and are in the 7-8GB range.
I'm not actually importing the movies but just pointing iTunes to the drive they sit on. For some reason it won't add them to the iTunes library. What gives? Is there a file size limit?
I have one two-hour file in mp3 format and one three-hour file. These are radio shows, so no music or anything, just talking. Now that I have the files, I want to get them as small as possible without making them unlistenable. What program can I use to reduce them?

Is there a way to reduce the size of icons, in a folder's panel shown in the Dock? What I mean is this: The icons in the Dock itself are okay, but when I click on the Apps folder which is standing in the Dock, its content is shown as a huge panel of large icons. The icon size is exagerated to my taste. I didn't found any options about this, in the Dock preferences control panel. Can we change the icon size there?

I have to scroll from side to side and up and down to see the whole screen and he or I can't figure out how to change it back.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI scanned some documents with my printer/scanner and don't want to have to rescan every time. I made them too big, they are 20+ megs, and I know with JPEGs one can just "flatten" the file. Can that be done with scanned docs too? If so, how? Do I need a special app for that? I have Preview and iPhoto, plus the MS Office package for the Mac.

I'm using iTunes 9.2.1 and it states that my music library is 159.99gb with 25,994 songs, however the folder containing music files is 171.26gb with 30,309 files. This is a difference of 11.27gb and 4315 files. The folder only contains mp3 or m4a files with their respective album and band folders; no images, text files or anything else. The iTunes folder is located elsewhere. I added the folder to iTunes again to see if there were 11gb of songs I'd forgotten to add and there was no difference. I even deleted all iTunes settings and the current library and added the folder again and it is still missing 11.27gb.
I'm about 95% sure that none of my music collection is missing from iTunes so my first thought was that iTunes is just reading the file sizes and count inaccurately and it really is 171.26gb, but I'm not sure.
Can anyone think of a solution without going though my entire collection and comparing it to iTunes to see if anything is missing?
I dragged a folder from an external hard drive into iTunes containing the songs I want on my new MacBook.
But, for some reason the file size shown in iTunes is 47.66GB whereas Finder says my iTunes Music folder is 50.38GB

I've deleted 6 backups already and am left with three but the size of the file hasn't changed at all. I don't want to delete the whole thing and start over.
The file size now is 330gb which is ridiculous to me that it hasn't changed one bit since i deleted 6 backups.
