Applications :: Does Antivirus Software Interfere With Other Apps

Mar 25, 2009

I haven't had any problems with computer viruses ever since I started using a Mac back in 2001. I kind of feel that we Mac users are on notice regards safety in the future. Does anyone run any brand of Anti Virus software? Does it cause problems with other programs? I mainly use FCS 2, Logic 8, Toast, Reason 2.5.

MacBook :: Wireless LAN Interfere With Bluetooth?

May 18, 2009

I've got an Aluminium Macbook 2.4ghz and when I'm using the internet wirelessly at home everything is great. However, when I use my wireless LAN at home to transfer movies or songs or whatever between my iMac which I now use as a server, and my Macbook, my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse drop their connection frequently, or there is a lag with the mouse across the screen. My Macbook has been like this since the day I got it on the 6th of November 2008 and I've recently begun to wonder if this is normal.

MacBook Pro :: Does Cinema Display Interfere With Wifi

Apr 14, 2012

Sometimes I use my laptop (macbook pro) just on its own, and no problem connecting to wifi... then if I plug it into the display and sometimes the wifi drops... Maybe just irregular boadband service, but I wonder if adding displays or bluetooth or anything like that causes problems with wifi?

Applications :: Antivirus Software For Leopard

I know that ClamAV is one of the better anti-virus programs out there for Mac OS X, but I hate having to use the terminal every time that I want to run a scan. Does anyone know of a comparable anti-virus program that is reliable and that has actually caught anything that is harmful to the Mac OS? I don't mind paying for a program that I know for sure works (I already have Little Snitch and love that program).

Applications :: Best Antivirus For Mac To Detect PC / Windows Viruses

Jan 13, 2011

I have been using Macs for a good few years now and have never had a problem with viruses. However a lot of my friends run Windows on their PC's and want me to get a virus programme to scan my files & downloads before I share them. Can anyone recommend a good virus software (preferably freeware) that scans all viruses, not just those harmful to macs. Currently I use iAntivirus, but from what I can see it only finds those relevant to macs.

OKay so the other day I was on windows live messenger (for mac... on my mac) then I left my computer to go to the bathroom and I still had a convo open, when I came back the person i was talking to said that I had sent her this:

(That's all i remember) The friend I was talking to asked me what it was, I wasn't thinking and I opened it, it led me to some weird website about a quiz to win something.. but then later at 3:30 the other day I wasn't online, or logged in at all but my other friend said that I wasn't even online and that i had sent her this link. I'm pretty sure that I have a virus and I have NO idea how to get rid of it or if I can get virus software.

Applications :: Best Antivirus / Malware Software For MBP (Client Security)

Jan 24, 2010

I have had a MBP fro myself for about a year 1/2. However I am now using it for business purposes and due to this I will be using it to do remote access to many client networks and have important documents on this Mac. With this in mind, I need extra security and am trying to find the best AV/spyware/malware software for my Mac. What software is the best. I know that Macs barely have ANY viruses that are in the wild but I cannot risk client security.

Applications :: How To Auto-hide Apps When Switching Between Apps

I'm looking for a way to keep distraction to a minimum when working. I'd like to have an app (or a setting) that enables me to automatically hide any apps that I switch out of. Are there any apps or hidden settings within OS X out there that would solve this issue for me? I know about Spirited Away, but it doesn't work for me and hasn't been updated in a while.

I'm running OS X v10.6.1.

OS X :: Run Antivirus On T Mode?

Aug 10, 2009

I have 2 MBPs. One has Intego suite and other other will get Norton Internet Security for Mac in next 30 minutes.

The intego one has a suspect malware. Instead of uninstalling the Intego and installing the Norton, I was wondering if I could install Norton on the clean Machine and then boot Intego machine by pressing T like in transfer mode when you set up a new mac.

Once the HD of Intego Machine is visible, could I run the norton from the other machine on the HD of the intego by right clicking it and say scan for virus etc..

OS X :: Antivirus Software Is Not Necessary On Mac - Why?

I'm new convert and LOVE my MacBook Air. There is something, however, that keeps me up at night. VIRUSES/SPYWARE/WORMS, etc. I've read some posts here and what I'm getting is that an Anti-Virus program is not necessary on my Mac. I do have Norton AntiVirus 10.2. Is that enough? What about firewalls, spyware, etc. After years on a PC, I'm addicted to these things. Should I upgrade to Norton Internet Security?

I know Macs aren't targeted by this sorta stuff as much as Windows PCs but I'm still a bit concerned that the OS X firewall might not be sufficient protection and that I may be left exposed without taking further precautions.
