View 6 RepliesSo, my problem is very simple. I like organizing my things by tagging them. I like photos. I have a lot of photos that I took in 2 different external drivers. I can't combine those two. I can't put all of my pictures in my laptop. I want to organize those pictures. I want to put an driver in my usb and the app/software just organizes the pictures from that driver, than, when I plug in another driver, I want the pictures from the last driver out and the pictures from the connected driver in.

I upgraded to iTunes 9 and then downloaded some new podcasts. ITunes is putting each new podcast episode into a new group in the thumbnail view. In Finder, all the episodes still remain under one folder though.
Any ideas on how to fix?
When I add an album that has Various Artists to iTunes it creates the folder structure in Finder like so:
Artist > Album > Song
The problem is that I'd like to keep the folder structure in finder to:
Album > Artist > Song
In other words I'd like to keep all the tracks for the compilation in the same folder in Finder.
I decided I want to scan all my school work, but I need someway to organize them, so i thought of tags, is there any software/app that allows me to tag the pdfs with words like "chemistry" "1st semester" "project" "math" etc? It can be for windows too!

I have the 2nd gen macbook air with a 256gb ssd, and I am down to my last 20gbs. I've also got an external hd. I moved my entire itunes library on the external hd, but I didn't like not having the capability to acces my content when I didn't have the hd in possesion. So I moved everything back. Is there anyway to move certain items into the hd while retaining other items on my mac and still maintaining a unified syncing from both sources via iTunes?
As an example: Let's say I've got all 3 Toy Story movies. I always want Toy Story 1 to be on my mac no matter what. But soon I will not have space for future content, so I have decided to move Toy Story 2 & 3 onto the external hd.So is there a way to move Toy Story 2 & 3 onto the hd and still have them be considered as a part of my itunes library - so that when I sync my iPad, the items that are on the external hd will only be available to sync when I plug the drive in?
If so, this is going to save me tons of time, without having to manually drag and drop each movie file from my external hd onto my itunes library whenever I want to sync them. I'd rather iTunes just be smart enough to figure out that theres a movie on my mac that I want to sync to my iPad, as well as several others that are stored on the exteranl hd.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPlI plug in my iPhone to my Mac to sync. While in iTunes, I select my iPhone in the side bar and then I select Apps. Once in Apps, I organize my apps into tidy folders. For example, I put all of my airline apps into the same "Travel" folder. I do this to prevent having pages and pages of apps. After doing that, I press the "Sync" button to save the changes to the iPhone. The changes seem to stick. No problem.
I look on my iPhone and the changes are made. I unplug my iPhone and the changes are still there. However, when I plug in my iPhone to sync the following day, all of the apps are unorganized again. This has happened repeatedly for weeks. Not sure why. Some previous organizational changes I've made are OK. It seems the iPhone simply will not allow me to organize the last 7-10 apps I've added to my phone.

As the title says, I'm looking for a program to organize and clean up my hard drive. I have an iMac now, but I had a iBook before that and the way I backed up my iBook was by dragging my Volumes folder into an external hard drive. I have folders inside of folder for days. I have my ibook backed up several times that way.
What I would love is a program that did the following
1.) Delete duplicates of everything.
2.) Put all file types into a single file extension folder (put all .doc in a folder called DOCs and all pdfs in a PDF folder, etc.etc.).
when I see the files in one of the folders in the finder, in list view only, they are organized from Z to A and I want to change that to see them from A to Z. I cannot do it. I used to change the list by clicking the ¨name¨, but now that doesn´t work. If I change the view to icons or cover flow, the same files are organized alphabetically. It seems I changed that (I mean from Z to A) once, before I got Lion, and now I cannot reverse the organization of files.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?

Does anybody have any knowledge as to what would be the best free photo editor? I am looking to start such a hobby, but would like to get a feel for it before my purchase of Aperture, as I don't want to regret my purchase.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out how to crop a regular photo taken with my digital camera down to a 2x2 passport size photo. Everything I've found in the forums suggests ways I can change printing options, but since I'll be sending the photo out digitally, I'd like to know how to save the image in this size.
I don't have Photoshop (except for PS Express), and when i use iPhoto's "Custom Size" option to set it to 2x2, it looks to me like it's still in a rectangular shape. When I save it as a "Square" it turns into a square, but a square that fills the page. Are there any other options that I have?
On a @ occasions I dragged a photo to my desk top and the photo collapsed! I had to do a restart to correct this. Does any one know the cause?

I hate iPhoto--it is way too restrictive, restructures my files, copies my files without asking me/etc..so I want to avoid using something like that.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy boss accidentally deleted all the pics off of her digital camera's SD card and she's offering me $100 if I can retrieve them. There was an app I used a few years ago that was free to look at what pics it could recover, and then you paid to recover them but I can't remember what it was called.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have looked at the online material for Aperature and Lightroom and am not sure if either of these will allow me to do this. I have been using finder but that is a painful process as I need to have 11 windows open and keep jumping back and forth between windows. There has to be a more efficient way to get through this.
So, I am curious if either of the programs I mentioned would do the trick, or some other software? Programs like PSE really don't help for this. Adobe Bridge was somewhat useful but also needs multiple copies of the program running at the same time to use multiple folders.
Ive downloaded a bunch, but couldnt find one that fit my needs.
So on microsoft paint, you have the ability to set specific margins when printing, fit to page, center, etc... as well as change printer, paper type, and ink settings for optimal quality..
however i couldnt find one thus far to use on my mac.. closest ive downloaded has been google's picasa but there are only preset margins and nothing regarding print quality, etc
so i need a program with these capabilities..it doesnt need to be a good photo editor... i just need to open existing photos and be able to adjust print margins/ quality myself
