View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a message that my Time Machine external backup disk is full. I have another external drive I can use, but buying drives every few months is going to get expensive.
I was wondering what others are doing in this situation.
Is anybody archiving the Time Machine backup? If so, what software are you using and where are you storing your backup?
What kind of backup plans are you using with Time Machine?
I installed AirPort Extreme for my iMac to replace an old wireless router. Now my external LaCie 'Time Machine' backup drive doesn't show up in peripherals when I try to reinstall it. (It went away somehow) It only tries to lead me to the wireless Apple product.

I'd love for my computer to automatically go to the page with the new image on it and save it to a folder. Sometimes I jsut don't have the time to get over to the page, or I jsut simply forget. Is there a way to automate this process?
I was wondering whether anyone out there knows how to turn the mac automated speech voices to an audio track that can be used in a video. By the automated speech I mean the ones where you can type in what you want it to say, you can choose a voice, (I think one is called alex), then right click and click start speaking. I want to use this as an audio track in a video.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fix an issue I had for a while with a automator script I want to use. I added several things it should do, test it, and it works fine. I use it usually as an workflow. But I tried to implement it through an iCal event! Which does not work. (and I checked already in preferences if the turn off all iCal alarms is unchecked) I the workflow basically to open when I first fire up the MacBook, but only once, not when I start it up again later n the day. So I thought about adding the workflow to the startup, but that would open it every time I start my MacBook. How can I get around that? By a iCal event? If yes, how can I fix it, that it starts not at a specific time (I don't start my computer at the same time every day) but when I first open it.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Lion
On a daily basis we install a number of machines with our standard selection of software.
At present we use a command line script to to do this but we would like to know if there is another way to create an automated process to install a number of apps as opposed to installing each application manually.

I have just bought my first Mac and finding iTunes limiting. I am running a Windows XP desktop, laptop and OSX 10.5 MacPro laptop. I then have a Western Digital World Book 500GB NAS with a share holding all my music so that it is centralized. I have setup iTunes so that it's default library is the WD NAS Share "Music" and deselected the option to copy to local library. The Mac is my wife's computer so I will not be adding new music through its iTunes, but from my XP Desktop to the drive mapping "MUSIC" (simple cut and paste). My frustration is that I can manually import (using iTunes) the contents from "MUSIC".
But any new songs I add to the share "MUSIC" from outside of iTunes will not be recognized/added in the iTunes library without doing another manual import of the new file/folder. I have seen a post for sync'ing two iTunes libraries, which may or may not be possible to sync'd Mac iTunes with Windows iTunes through shares, but I really prefer not to go this route and currently using iTunes only on the Mac. Is there a script or plug-in for Leopard or iTunes that will monitor for changes on the ntwork share then add the new songs to iTunes's libary automatically? Maybe I am thinking to far outside of the box? By the way I do work in the IT field so I am willing to do some more "duct-taping" to make this work
I have just set up our G5 Mac's on our Windows Domain, I have enabled IMAP on Exchange Server 2003 and configured Mac Mail accordingly. Mac Mail can now send and receive messages and attachment just fine but when a sent message fails you do not receive the automated delivery failure notification from the System Administrator. If the Mac operator uses Outlook Web Access or a PC using IMAP to check his Inbox then the automated messages are displayed fine but Mac Mail refuses to pick them up. I am new to Mac's and would appreciate some advice, I have checked the Junk mail and they are not there either.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night I decided to try itunes to burn a cd and I noticed the options you have when starting the burning process, space between songs (1,2,3 seconds) and some other options.
I left the 2 second spaces which was the default, but my songs are cutoff by 1 or 2 seconds before the end.
Does this have to do with the 2 second I used?
Would someone be so kind and explain these options? I tried to google it by no answer.

Is there a possibility, to have more print options in the OS X print dialog? Specifically, I want to change quickly the layout of E-Mails, I print (font size bigger, smaller, rewrap mail, move attachments, so they print properly on one sheet instead of spreading on 4 sheets, etc.). I was a heavy user of fineprint for Windows back then and loved especially the implemented big print preview.
View 4 Replies View RelatedComing from MS Outlook, I used to be able to code the status of calendar entries as "Busy," "Free," "Tentative," and "Out of Office." It seems iCal only has Busy and Free. At the very least, is there a way to add Tentative to the list if not Out of Office as well?
Since I use iCal for my business I have tons of meetings which are constantly being added, then moved and sometimes dropped. I'd really like to be able to put things as tentative.
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to specify which folders I want to copy to my external drive, updating existing files within it and copying new ones.
I don't want to backup settings, my whole harddrive nor make a bootable backup. Just something to backup what I want to backup and where.
Not sure if Time Machine can do that, but it wants me to reformat my external before I can even find out..and considering how much is on there, I really don't want to have to remove that all elsewhere while doing so. [Don't think I could anyway, none of my internal drives have that much space.]
So, does anyone know of a relatively painless backup app that could do simply what I want? Doesn't sound all that complicated in comparison to some of the more convoluted backup apps I keep finding.
I am getting the following error from Time Machine when doing my first backup. The startup disk being backed up, and the TM disk are both the same size.
Macintosh HD: 465.44 (total); 393.99 (free); 71.45 (free)
Time Machine: 465.44 (total); 465.29 (free)
The Time Machine error is: Quote:
"This backup is too large for the backup volume. The backup requires 472.7 GB but only 465.3 GB are available." why would this be? Other disks are excluded from the backup, and Time Machine is telling me that it needs more space than it actually needs. What should I do?
