Aperture :: How To Crop A Portion Of A Panoramic Picture

I have a panoramic picture of a group of children lined up in a row and between 2 of the kids is a large gap. I was curious if I could cut or crop out that portion so the picture could be brought in so there would be less of a gap. (or make it look like the kids are almost standing next to each other in that part of the pic) Every time I try to crop that section out, the picture just becomes what I am cropping. Is there a way to do this?

Final Cut Pro :: Crop To 16:9 And Select A Particular Portion?
Can I crop a video clip in a like fashion to cropping a photo? For example can I specify a certain aspect ration (16:9), crop and then use the hand to move around inside the image until I have selected what I want to present and then have the clip displaed without letter boxing? I believe this is possible in iMovie 09.

IDVD (iLife 09/11) :: Loosing Portion Of Picture
This is my 1st post, hopefully someone will understand why I'm trying to explain (my english is not perfect and I'm not an expert in computer) I've done few iMovie and just finish another one but: 1st: when I open iDVD and want to use my iMovie project,

a) there is a frame in red on the theme and it cut a portion of the theme. So I have to manually move more inside the menu buttons.
b) in iDVD it cut as well a portion of the pictures from the project: I really do not want that as I loose sometimes people face or they don't appear if there are on the edge of the pic.

I tried widescreen and standard but I always loose portion of the pictures. I don't have that problem when I preview it on iMovie. 2nd: when I tried to open the file in iDVD; it shows in light grey, I cannot open the file.

Aperture :: Finding Crop Like Photoshop
However, when I import images into Photoshop for further editing, anything previously cropped in Aperture has the same aspect ratio but the pixel dimensions are smaller.

Whenever I used to crop in Photoshop, the aspect ratio AND pixel dimensions were preserved. This doesn't seem to be the case with Aperture. So it seems I'm going to end up send a bunch of images to my client that have the same aspect ratio but are all different sizes.

I've tried custom crops etc in Aperture and these also seem to constrain the aspect ratio but not the pixel dimensions.

Aperture :: Crop Of Imported Images?
If I crop a jpeg that I have imported from my camera, then apply a crop, the cropped image will fill the screen. However, if I import a jpeg from iPhoto or any other source (desktop, folder, etc.) and apply a crop, the cropped image will be small and does not fill the screen.

There must be some setting that will make the resultant view of a crop from an imported jpeg fill the screen similar to the behavior of a typical camera imported image. This is driving me nuts and I've spent hours trying to figure it out.

Aperture :: How To Crop / Export Pics Without Permanent Changes To Original
I'm still learning my way around Aperture, and I have a task in front of me that I'm not sure how best to accomplish. I need to export a bunch of photos to use in a Kodak LCD frame. The problem is that the aspect ratio of the frame is 16:9... not the same as my photos! If I do a simple export, I get a photo that either has blank space on either side in the frame or that cuts off the top and bottom (not necessarily in the way I would like).

So, I need to do the following, all without any permanent changes to my Aperture library:

- Apply a custom crop to 16:9 to each image

- Export only the cropped images

- Have the option to easily delete the cropped images from Aperture if I decide I don't need them anymore

I'm not sure how to do all this, though. If I crop an image, there's no real indication that the cropped version isn't the original, so I'm afraid I'll loose track of which ones I've cropped and which ones I haven't. If I create a new version of each image and crop that, then they're all mixed in with the other images, so selecting them for export will be a pain. There must be a way to do this, though, so what am I missing?

Aperture :: Disable Film Strip Pop-Up In Full Screen Mode To Crop Image?
When I am in Full-Screen mode, cropping is difficult when the cursor moves to the bottom of the screen. This is because the "film strip" automatically pops up and blocks my view of the bottom of the image. I cannot see the part of the picture I am cropping!

This is very annoying. Sometimes, I have to draw the crop box at the top of the screen - out of range of the film strip - and then drag it down to the bottom of image, placing it that way.

I know I can click on a toggle switch to get the "full screen" image to shrink and share the screen with the film strip - but I prefer to see the image at full size.

Could there be a keyboard command that disables the automatic pop-up of the film strip? Any other suggestions?

Aperture :: Picture Is Not The Same After It Is Exported To Desktop?
Once I have achieved the effect, I then click "File" > "Export" > "Version" to export the picture to the desktop. Then, the other day I opened the picture that was exported to the desktop (it opened in Preview) and put it right next to the Aperture version...they were slightly different! Some of the information is being lost in the exporting process or when Preview is opening the picture it is not "smart" enough to pull up all of the adjustments I have made. Does anybody know how to avoid this problem? It is especially problematic and frustrating because I print the exported version and it is different from the one in Aperture.

I am new to Aperture (3.0.2), so sorry about what is probably a very simple question. I made a 3 min slideshow in Aperture, and the editing is going well. However, I want to add a slide. When I drag it in from iPhoto, it (new picture) shows up in the filmstrip, but without a time duration. The "play slide for" control in the Selected Slides tab is grayed out. When I play the slideshow, it just skips over the picture as if it wasn't there. There is a little tag icon in the bottom right of the new picture, but I don't know what that means. Final Cut Pro :: How To Do Simple Picture-in-picture Effect
i'm sure the answer is going to be motion ... but i need to do a simple picture-in-picture effect w/ a colored border. yes how primitive ... i scale down & reposition the shot using the motion tab, then i apply a border filter. good so far. however once i crop the shot (using the motion tab) the border does not follow the crop and i lose the border. obviously the border still exists around the entire video frame but you lose the border when you crop the frame smaller. any way around this?

fwiw, on avid we have an effect/filter called "3D warp". this is essentially a full channel of DVE that includes borders, shadows, lighting effects, keying in addition to 3D motion control of the frame. does anything similar to this exist on fcp? can't seem to find it if it does exist. seems like the most basic of effects.

IMovie 11 :: Picture In Picture Kills Transitions Between Clips?
In iMovie '09 I placed transitions between clips, followed by placing a PIP watermark logo that spanned the entire length of the movie. Everything worked well - the watermarked logo was always visible and the transitions between clips worked fine.

In iMovie '11, the minute I have a PIP watermark logo space the duration of the movie, any transitions that existed between clips immediately grey out and no longer work. If I remove the PIP, the transitions un-grey and life is good again.

I'm thinking Apple thinks this might be a feature?? LOL.

Is anyone else having this issue, or is it just me?

I assume an immediate workaround would be to have a PIP for each clip but that does become cumbersome with many clips.
